Pure Garbage, and Plagiarism

This POS is a total rip off of NL Vacation. Whoever made this should be sued for stealing other's material.

It seems that as early as 2006, Robin Williams was selling himself in awful films, desperate for a payday to makeup for his terrible money management and alimonies.

I'll take Punctuality

reply

Yes it was, but I'd rather watch Williams then lameass Chevy Chase any day of the year.

I do not think National Lampoon has the monopoly on comedy vacation films.

Its that man again!!

reply

How is this anywhere close to Vacation? Or are you claiming that any movie that features a family on vacation is a rip off of that movie?

reply

The only similarity is that they're about families of 4 on a road trip. That's not plagiarism.

I've seen a few of thes posts and it makes me wonder if the OP's actually saw the movie at all. All vampire movies are not Dracula! Besides a family going on vacation, the similarities end.

chas437, I would love for you to tell us in what way this film was like Vacation.

Because it wasn't in any way. Even the premise was different. This family was taking a vacation with Dad also trying to do important work for his company. Not at all like the Chase movie. They weren't taking any of the same roads, they weren't at all going to the same destination, and they weren't driving a vehicle at all similar.

None of the things that happened to one family happened to the other.

I also disagree with the notion that this film was awful. My family thought it was excellent, very, very funny, maybe just short of hilarious.

Now if you didn't think it funny, that's fine with me. But how in the world can you say it was like Vacation?

Why don't we just shoot 'em down and be through with it?

You listed things that are different, but it's just as easy to list things that are similar.

- Their family consists of Man, Woman, Girl and Boy. Father, Mother, Daughter and Son.
- The whole family has to go on the trip
- The wife is constantly trying to argue against the man's plans and ideas
- All kinds of wacky shenanigans ensue, basically 'everything goes wrong constantly'
- The kids are not happy with most of what happens, and the father is shown to be a bumbling fool and in the wrong in most cases
- The father gets separated from the family and has to do a painstaking manual trek alone, that gets him dirty and desperate
- The father loses valuable possessions, and that leads him in trouble
- The family meets another family, that happens to be of the 'scary redneck' variety (cousin Eddie)
- The movie ends with police and powerful CEOs being forgiving / accommodating and making the father a great offer
- Both families go to a roadtrip that no one else wants to go to besides the father

Sure, the movies are different, but the very 'everything goes wrong and the father bumbles a lot' is already very reminiscient of the old classic. Don't tell me there are no similarities, because there most certainly are.

still not similar enough to make it "rip off" or plagerism though.

I hesitate to say this one was the more ridiculous movie, so I'd say it was obvious they were trying to do up the older vacation movie going bigger with the wheels.
