Dushku a Replacement for Final Season
Casting Update

Eliza DushkuWe have recently received a heads up from Clint over at MovieHole that Eliza Dushku has been brought on to the cast of The Final Season after repeat delays. I have been a fan of Dushku ever since her appearance in True Lies and, like many other male moviegoers, hope to see this hottie actress make a glorious return to film.

A casting reshuffle for the baseball film, The Final Season, has seen Amy Acker, Sam Elliot, Katherine Ross, and Tyler Hoechlin dropped from the picture. The film's original lead, Sean Astin, is still onboard. The shake-up is due to a lengthy delay in filming.

The movie, from David Mickey Evans ("The Sandlot"), tells of a young man named Kent Stock [Astin], who in the early 90’s, gave up a job and ditched his wedding plans to take over as head coach of the Norway High School baseball team. There, Kent won over his players and convinced them, and himself, that he can fill their former coach's shoes and that they can go out winners.

Replacing Amy Acker, as Kent's love interest/the lawyer in the reorganization process is fellow "Angel" co-star Eliza Dushku.

Also new to the cast are Tom Arnold as the father of a star player (Michael Angarano, replacing Tyler Hoechlin), Powers Boothe (“Deadwood”), James Gammon (“Major League”), Larry Miller (“Pretty Woman”), Brett Claywell ("One Tree Hill") and, funnily enough, Mackenzie Astin.

The movie, set to film in Iowa, was supposed to film last year, but was delayed - due to numerous reasons - with the production kicking off again only this week.
