Just wondering about the "love" story

Was it real?

I always wonder about some of these things "based on" true stories, and just how accurate they are to all the aspects. I assume the baseball facts must be pretty accurate, but I do wonder when they throw in side stories like the relationship between Sean Astin's character and Rachael Leigh Cook's. Did it happen? And if so, did they stay together? And if not, well, its kinda dumb to throw it in there. The film did not all out need a love story within it.


But what do I know. I'm just a girl.
