Does anyone else hate Humpty?

That stupid talking egg annoyed me the majority of the film. Not is he only an eyesore to look at but he gets all angry because his "best friend" chooses a moral life instead of a corrupt one with him. Selfish much?! Then he tricks him into turning outlaw again, the exact thing Puss didn't want to be....THEN he betrays Puss after Puss decides to trust him again for revenge on something that was COMPLETELY Humpty's fault in the first place!!

HUMPTY=DOUCHE. Did not feel sorry for him at all. He wasn't the least bit likable! That ending was exactly what he deserved in my opinion.

Loved Puss and Kitty though. So cuddly....argh, I want a cat!! XD

I saw him as the villain who pretends to be an ally of the hero but betrays him only to sacrifice at the end. Definitely not a protagonist.

I completely agree. Humpty almost ruined my enjoyment of the entire movie. He infuriated me so much more than the typical bad guy in most movies, for the reasons that you listed. I completely agreed with Puss's decision to not trust Humpty again at the beginning and was really disappointed that he gave in. Humpty was a douche, but at least they picked the perfect actor to voice him. Zach Galifianakis is a natural for that.

He about killed the movie for me. I totally agree with you about him being an eyesore to look at, and he is honestly one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen, next to Jar Jar Binks. I normally favor the villians over the main characters, but this guy was so freaking annoying!

You got what you wanted but you lost what you had.

It was a love / hate thing for me and Humpty.

Humpty in the orphanage? Loved him and felt sorry for him.
Humpty betraying Puss when Puss was "Turning his life around?" I wanted
to crack that egg and make breakfast of him myself! Especially how he just threw Puss' boots at him startling him awake? Wtf? No respect!

Humpty seemingly being Puss confidant again...hmm I tolerated him.
Humpty betraying Puss again?! Laughing and drinking wine while
Puss was hauled away? OMG I was pissed!

At the end when he picked up the picture he drew of him and Puss as
kids with the "golden eggs" and seeing how he realized how bogus
he was to Puss,I felt bad, a little...

I also need to note that this character had a lot of funny moments
as well but overall he was a terrible friend to Puss.

Not like I love you

Don't forget how Puss is the one who apologizes at the end.

Well... Humpty didn't get angry at Puss for choosing a moral life rather than a corrupt life with him. The problem started because Humpty felt alienated and detached from the town they grew up in. He felt this not only because he was an orphan, which created an abandonment issue with him, but also because he was bullied and picked on by pretty much everybody. This created a "me against the world" mindset for the egg. After allowing Puss into his secret world he developed an emotional attachment to the kitten. They were partners with a dream. That's how it started. With such little invested in the town Humpty didn't need to feel bad about his petty crimes and how it affected the people of San Ricardo. When Puss becomes the hero he becomes a big part of the town and has a greater sense of involvement within it. This is something Humpty just can't wrap his head around especially after having such negative experiences from the community. Humpty's plan was to leave the town and start a new one with Puss. So when Puss becomes involved with the town and would prefer to stay there instead of leaving with Humpty was just another case of being abandoned in his eyes. There was nothing in that town for Humpty, nothing positive to keep him there, so he couldn't understand why Puss would want to stick around and took it very personally. He felt betrayed that his closest emotional relationship enjoyed and reveled in a place that made him feel like a turd. It was about it being moral or corrupt it was about their relationship.

Save the speeches for Malcolm X... I just want to get laid.

I was just about to post something similar but you said it perfectly! I completely agree with you.

That still doesn't excuse the Egg's behaviour. He could have chosen to emulate Puss, and do things that would involve him in the town - even if just starting out by helping little old ladies across the street, Boy Scout style. He instead chose to nurse his feelings of alienation and hostility, and took it out on Puss because he was jealous of Puss being accepted for his good deed.

Even if you're still not accepted after trying, just become a hermit. You don't have to DO anything against anyone, just snub them completely. People hate that.

SPOILER.I agree with you.I hated Humpty. He is a whiny loser. He lied to Puss about needing him, just so he can pull off a bank robbery, Puss gets caught and Humpty has the nerve to hate Puss.

reply

Yeah, agree. And he shouldn't deserve forgiveness from Puss.
