Confusions about some scenes ( Spoiler)

Hi All
I liked the movie in general
although its turned bad in the ending
but i have some questions:
what about the scene where the iron got on and off?
what about Sophie giving her daughter the medicine Twice in ten minutes?
and the most important: what about the neighbour oldwoman which said to Sophie that she saw her getting from the blue car before minutes and entered the house?who was that woman? its sure not mara coz the neighbour would knew it .
what about the red dress which Mara dressed like it at the party?how she knew about it ? Sophie just bought it the on the day of the party ..right?
in general it was a good movie ..although i was expecting a more complicated ending

Hi~
I am new to this site, but I just watched this film, so I thought I'd add my two cents.
In the scene with the iron, Mara has snuck into the home and turned the iron on (she shows later that she has an affinity for starting fires).
Sophie may have given her child the medicine twice due to sleep deprivation.
The elderly neighbor, Maggie, saw Mara wearing Sophie's dress, exiting the home and getting into Mara's husband's blue car. The neighbor had poor eyesight.
Sophie's red dress was a gift from her husband. Mara bought one like it to make Sophie feel 'crazy' like her husband was cheating on her.
I knew that Mara would be a 'bad seed' in the end with her sociopathic/psychotic behaviors, but I was suprised to see that she was not Sophie's daughter, Kate, her friend from school was, and it implied that she killed her.
I hope that this helps.
Cheers.

Yes, I agree, Sophie was so mentally exhausted that she gave her daughter the meds twice. Stress can do that to you. I think the point WAS to have Sophie do some things that Mara could not have done, thereby showing more of a reason why Sophie's family would doubt her.

As for the red dress, Sophie did choose that one herself. Was Mara lurking in the boutique. Mara must've had a supernatural knack for being ubiquitious; able to do so many foul deeds with no explanation.

I also wondered that since Sophie worked from home, how did Mara manage to sneak in SO many times? Well, I guess that's the part where the audience suspends belief, but again, Mara's ubiquity just amazed me.
