Hav u all missed da point!!

So be4 i start i hav read sum of da posts on this film but still im shocked and disgusted at the idea that this has actually been made into a film. I am a huge film fan so dont get me wrong, but there are sum stories that film directors and scriptwriters should just leave well alone and this is one of them. It's not even 10 years since this happened, im sure that the families of the two people involved are still grieving i mean giving urself up to killed and eaten isnt sumthing that u can just brush under a rug neither is the fact that the other guy actually wanted to this to another human being, its just not right to make a film on this subject it dark and chilling and to think that it actually goes on is bad enough wid out havin it in rubbed in ur face. Its just not right.

Um... could you write that in English, please?

I think that's the first time i see someone writing that bad on imdb. I should quote it as a cool sig' bro, ya know dat i mean ? lol

reply

Well what can I say, that's society for you drusilla2330. Something "bad" happens, they gotta make a movie about it. Whether it's to exploit for money, or simply to tell the story.

Why try and limit film? People are always going to be curious, even about morbid subjects. Why not fill that requirement?

And by the way I can see you are capable of spelling properly and grammar isn't completely lost on you, why intentionally throw "sum" and "da" and "wid" in there? People will instantly dismiss you.

I enjoyed the movie very much, I like horror films and things that are unsettling. I dont like direct gore, face of death type junk. But things that explore the darker side of the mind. There are others that like this subject too and find it fascinating and perhaps its the only thing that really scares us. For me at least, I really have to search to find things that creep me out or scare me, but I enjoy feeling those chills from time to time. The movie BUG was very much the same kind of movie for me, and left me very creeped out. This movie did too because my imagination really takes it to another level. I can easily imagine a chatroom somewhere very late at night as two people come to this type of real arrangement, and its pretty frightening in all its aspects. People are the creepiest of monsters and worst of demons dwell within them.

My Little Eye is another one creepy to me.

While i don't believe in limiting films I think there should be limits. much of what is normal artistic film today would be considered pornographic in the old days. We keep on pushing the envelope. This film isn't visually graphic but the idea of it is. This is something that is very perverse and dark that has happened in real life. Normally it is fine for the horror genre but the fact that it is based on real events...lately there has been too man films built on the misfortunes of mankind. Flight 93, that Nic Cage movie, lots and lots of war movies that are realistic....I like war movies and such but it just doesn't seeem right that filmmakers are capitalizing on such recent events.

YEAH BOIII.
I didn't understand a word you typed.

well considering that the guy consented to being eaten, i dont really see him as being a victim. and if he was, it was to his own sick sexual fetishes more so than that meiwes dude.

reply

I know this reply was posted in 2009 but I just saw this film and I couldn't agree more with your statement. He wasn't a Meiwes victim, he was definitely the victim of his own desires in the end. Still don't fully get Meiwes getting hit with such a harsh sentence when it's been clear from the start that the dude consented to it and wanted this more than anything, but that's a topic for another day I guess.

seriously 'hav' not 'have' and 'sum' not 'some'?

did you cure cancer with the one second you saved by not writing in a real language?

reply

The OP's points are relevant and his spelling mistakes are not as he makes a very valid point. This was a horrific story and I cant help feel that this movie only exploits the real life events that inspired it by cashing in on the torture porn horror genre (Saw, Hostel and Se7en to an extent) to make money.

The families of those involved must still be grieving and it seems that absolutely nothing is sacred anymore.

I know one thing baby...you will survive.

Did you even see the movie? Grimm Love aka Rothenburg shares nothing with Saw / Hostel / etc...

it's a story worth telling

reply

The plot sounds lame just like the real event.

It's hard to take someone seriously when their grammar is explicitly and consciously BAD. And it won't get you either a raise or admittance to the college of your choice, so why do it?

Surely making this movie is the opposite of "brushing under the rug."

You're having an emotional reaction within a critical sphere that is hamstringing your ability to critically evaluate the merits of this film (technical, plot, storytelling, effects) by simply disposing of the whole work outright because YOU don't think the subject should be represented. Hmmm.

Seen Flight 93? That was well under your seemingly random "Ten Year" benchmark. Conversely, Munich, Downfall and Platoon are deeply affecting and worthy movies made even LONGER after the events. They don't lose any power because of it, and I doubt this one would after ten years, or maybe even a hundred. Who knows?

All I know is I'll certainly be giving this one a go now it's been un-banned.

First, I think you've possibly missed the point of the whole movie - it's telling a story, some people like psychological thrillers and horrors, murder mysteries, true crime, etc. The point is, these films are made for such people. They teach us and give us a better understanding about the insanity, the fetishes and the cruelty of humanity in modern society, they show us that these things DO happen.

Secondly, you can't try to make your opinion valid or even credible if you're going to try to impress us by trying to sound "cool" by dropping your spelling down to "adolescent" levels. This isn't a text you're sending to some friend, you aren't saving money by dropping out letters, you aren't saving yourself time in dropping a few letters out of the words either (because you have to stop and consciously THINK you're going to type these spellings). Sorry if it sounds cruel to pick on it, but there are people in the world who are suffering with learning difficulties who wish they could BE as articulate as you are capable of being, and here you are typing like a ten year old. Appreciete the intelligence and ability you HAVE to write properly, please.

mind numbing sms speak aside, this is actually a very valid point.

@ Angelexposed - I'm sure the OP gets everything that you said in your first statement, but he's talking about the time period (or lack of, moreimportantly) beteween the event itself, and the movie going out.

Put yourself in the shoes of any person associated with it, and i'd imagine it wouldn't be very pleasant.
