potential for oscar?

what do you guys think?

reply

It probably will have a hard time competing with "Paradise Now" (2005). As they are both captivating films set in the Middle East. It would be cool for Sweden to receive an Oscar though, it's been a while. ;)

I'm gonna be honest. zozo was a good movie but i dont get what people got so incredebly impressed by. I thaught the beginning of the movie was good, when he livet in Libanon with his family, but as soon as he came to Sweden, the movie went from good to worse and worse. The thing is, i probably would have thought it was better if i hadn't read so much positive stuff about it beafore actually watching it. I was a bit dissapointed.

True girran5!

Saw the movie tonight, U read my mind! Josef Fares has talent, but this movie is far from oscar touch. the beginning of the movie was good, U just felt the magig. It was so good, i start to think about City of God. And that is not a bad. But as soon as zozo went to sweden, then the movie was boring. not that something didn't, but the movie felt like so cheep. He could have taking more time to write better after story. The reason way everybody is talking about the movie so much and saying that it's very good and atleast would get an oscar nomination, is just becouse there were non good swedesh drama movies this year, and becouse Josef Fares ides is fresh for the typical swedesh.

PS. Sorry for my bad english!

Yeah and all our Lebanese movies suck too. Best one is a 7.2 and its an old film. We need new stuff to come out, Lebanon should emphasive Movie Production, we should have Lebanese productions produced in the name of Lebanon not like Mario Sarkis to make Terminator 3 in the name of Hollywood.
