No Need for Aishwarya's Dance Number..

Aishwarya's dance number was forced in there. I think the film could have done without it, she's a great dancer but the whole thing felt out of place in the movie. I feel it was put in just to make it a big Hoo Haa of first time Big B and Little B both featured in a song together.
It didnt hit the mark though.

reply

It was put in because an item number by the beautiful Aishwarya Rai along with the most famous father son duo would definitely bring in the crowds. The song was great so was the choreography and since the movie is a superhit - it was probably the right decision. People are actually going in just to watch the song a second time.

Hey Madhuri dixit hasn't won all those Pagent awards but look amazing she looks; and her acting is beyond great. Everyone knows Aishwarya isn't the best actress but at least her dances are enjoyable to watch. I don't think beauty has nothing to do with the colour of someone's hair, because isn't aishwarya's natural hair colour black anyway?

oh lol speaking of fair skin, big eyes and puffy lips... then why isn't anyone paying attention to Kareena Kapoor??????????

reply

[deleted]

I know you don't care about Madhuri dixit.. but she is also living proof that Indian beauty is not about having brown hair.. she can really act.

yes i agree aish can't act or anything lol... blame India then for loving someone with looks and looks only..because if nobody liked her acting and refused to see movies with her in.. then she still wouldn't be here..

reply

Why blame India????? There are people who watch aishwarya for her talet perhaps you people dnt know cuz u have seen most commercial films.....

watch raincoat and chokebali and also commercial films like HDDCS and taal where she has proved that she can act.

reply

becouse Kareena has just a name, she comes form the Kapoor family and that's way she is there, cuz the lady can't act nor dance.
Madhuri is a good actress but she has gone as far as she can go. and Ash I think has much more to offer.
I don get way u peple from India and the desy cowntry haet Ash so much, cuz she has represent India in the industry like no one else, and she is proud of it.
You peplemust be ingnorant no to see what others can see, stop looking at her ficical aperance and see the potencial of the actor in her.
I'm spanish and we are well known for our exelent film, not comercial flicks like u are used to

Well, which of the songs were *not* forced??

Remember Rani's "Dream sequence" song ... ? She closes her eyes ... and voila! Shiamak Davar's troupe in a horribly big set. (And Rani gyrating in S and M leather clothes with her ... ahem, let's say *debatable* figure)

They fall in love at CST station ... and voila! They are transported to a godforsaken foreign pastureland to croon and kiss ...

I think the only two songs worth wasting time on were 'Dhadak dhadak' (as an introduction song) and 'Bunty aur Babli' (well, its' ... the title song)

the other songs were pure *beep* ...at least 'Kajra re' had a great qawwali tune, a funny Amitabh and ...the HOTTTT-ttttt aishwarya...

i hate it when potentially-good movies get ruined because of stuffed songs...remember Hera Pheri? Cut ALL songs and its' a fabulous film

reply

Why does Shiamak Davar still get jobs? His stuff is horrendous in all his films. It must have been his big idea to let Rani wear the horrible horrible leather outfit.

I saw this movie last night and loved every single moment of it! Aishwarya's item dance was amazing and added more spice into the movie. It's a cute movie--you're not suppose to take it seriously. It's light and fun. Abhi and Rani (even though I can't STAND her!) work so well together. Great, great chemistry. 9/10 overall.

Poor Haribhai...he died of a broken heart!

Well I am 100% agree with this
Aishwarya Rai's number was the ONLY thing good about the film. The rest was rubbish

reply

Isn't rani in a stage of her career where she can say no, I don't want to wear that .. lol
I was watching the song and really liked the tune.. n den bamn!! anybody could see how terrible it looked.. what is wrong with those people.. :p

Rule #1--there is ALWAYS a need for an Aishwarya dance number. Excuse me, didn't you see the close-up of her rear?

reply

close up of rear?
don't forget the heaving of the front! ;)

man, oh man.

man.

(do you know, even roger ebert's in love with her! :)

reply

Wow. Ash is a "three-man" woman as far as you're concerned, huh?

Well, she's at least that and much more...her dancing is excellent, and, yes, she can act as she proved in Raincoat with Ajay Devron. Who, for my money, is her best onscreen partner. I always love her chemistry with Asbishek but there's something visceral about her work with Ajay. He brings out the best in her acting ability. All in all, that item number is the best part of B&B.
What is better, as Asbishek said in the 'Making of the Movie' interview, than dancing with his dad and Ash? Not much...not much...

i loooove shreyasbeltangdy's comment cuz it brings out a great point : - WHAT SONGS ARENT FORCED(for me to add what songs arent forced in commercial hindi movies?) if u dont notice that a song is going on while the movie is going on...THEN the song is perfect because it makes the movie just flow.

Also Aish is a great actress in Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Humara Dil Aapke Paas Hain(even though the movie wasnt very good), Taal(until the ending where she just overacts a lil), and Kuch naa Kaho(meh..mediocre i guess but she still did alright)

reply

i think it's a nice song but the dialogue preceding it is rubbish! Aishwarya looks like she just got out of bed and what an awful dress! She's really trying to be Urmila! Aishwarya has miles to go before she can be even half as good as Urmila in all terms (acting, beauty, sexiness etc)

reply

Yo,, i am doing this dance for my school's christmas concert on tuesday, so wish me luck, ok? i think its a lovely song, and ash looks great and i hope i will too!

peace!

MY QUESTIONs TO THOSE WHO HATE THE MOVIE AND GO TO SEE IT BECAUSE OF Aishwarya:---If Aishwarya is so great at dancing why waste her time acting?????!!! Why not just do number song for every hindi film so that people just go to the movie to see her dancing???!!!

For those of you who think that this movie is rubbish, why bother wasting you time on debating about this rubbish movie???!!!

Honestly, these people are just jealous because Aishwarya is not the lead in the film. Trying to claim that people go to see this film because of Aishwarya and Aishwarya only.

Personally, this movie is not the best(storyline was a bit weak) but I do like it a lot and I thought that the actors are well casted. They all have done their part perfectly.

Film---3.5/5
Acting---4.5/5
Song----3.75/5

reply

the film is terrible and the only good thing in it is Rani! I like the Kajra re song but picturising it on E.T. totally ruined it! Aishwarya looks ugly in it (as always) and she has no style of dressing! And that dialogue before the song is so cheap! The song should have been picturised on Raveena or Urmila! At least they would have brought some charm and spark to a lame film!

reply

hello...look at the whole setting of the movie..its all set in a small town in UP..you're obviously not going to find class there..aishwarya is one of the classiest ladies in bollywood, and whatever oufits and dance moves she did in kajra re were only to make it authentic.

reply

hahahahhahahahha she's "classy!" that makes me laugh :-)

they put kajra re in there to make money duhhh! but i love that song. i watched it over and over and over and over... even if fat aishwara rai (did anyone else notice how fat she looks in that song especially when she was on the floor) was in it!

did anyone else find it hilarious with the nachbelai or whatever song when abishek tries to dance and dress like hrithik roshan and he looks like THE MOST PATHETIC LOSER I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO SEE!!

don't smoke: there are cooler ways to die!

reply

[deleted]

she had to put on weight because of the character she is portraying in "Provoked". if you look at her now shez pretty much lost all that fat.

reply

[deleted]

Yes, she's un-classy, that's why she's one of the top actresses in India, one of the upcoming world celebrities, one of the most famous celeb endorsers for products like Longines and Gucci and repeatedly called one of the most beautiful women in the world...and yes, was Miss World '94 to top it all.

Rethink.

If you're a girl, no point (all girls are Ash-haters), but do rethink.

reply

(all girls are Ash-haters)

why, in 2006, are there still neanderthals living by primitive, backwards gender ideology?

reply

:( I'm no Neanderthal! I'm pure Homo Sapiens. "All girls are Ash-haters" was a joke based on empirical observation.

I, more than anyone else, am opposed to gender-based stereotyping...But a little laugh once in a while based on current cultural attitudes around me is harmless!

Where I come from(Mumbai, India), every second girl wrinkles her nose when I claim Ash to be my muse since years now!

i like all the songs from this film and frequently use them as my exercise music! ash is gorgeous, rani is gorgeous, abishek is very funny and amitabh is amitabh..all in all, in my humble opinion, a superb cast and a delightfully light, entertaining film.

reply

This is a great film...one of the best films of 2005 in my opinion.
But I agree, the song was all hype. There was nothing particularly superb or awesome about it. Maybe it could have been like those added remix videos, which are so popular these days. I agree with the OP, the film was good enough without it...would have remained great even if it was eliminated.
Though it did boost its BO returns because of the popularity of the music.
(in weddings, discos, autorickshws, etc.)

reply

I know what you mean

but people adore her

so i'm cool with it

Rani is the star anyways

reply

ya.. it was forced and it took some pace of the scenes following it....The movie was entertaining and funny with the punjabi speaking Rani.... and yah she looked like the Crazy Frog jumping up and down in that leather dress ,in Nach Balliye....
But on the outside it was another hindi movie with lot of money wastage and wealthy clothes in midst of dust and sand in U.P...and some what a no-logic story... Hey why dont they show the planning of any of the "brilliant" plots of B&B and just make police say they were so brilliant?????...
nowadays style is more important than what u speak and act.....and putting all the big names in bollywood, in a film so that film is watched atleast once is the biggest effort...
Wonder how Amitabh would have felt when these directors like Karan johar would explain to him for hours to stand in a particular style and what he wears instead of concentrating whether the dialogues he speaks in a scene is relevant and natural....
Whoever has said above that Aish has done a good job in Raincoat... u can see that she plays the role of a talkative girl with lies in her tongue ... but does a lot of overacting in the film... and she does not look like a simple girl in the film.. u can see in her face .. Her artificial smile is also irritating ... GOD..please close her mouth (has anyone seen her interview on the late night show with david letterman.. "awful performance!!!!")....Madhuri has 100 times more beauty, charm, grace and acting than her....
quite a big reply by me..hmmmmm...All said and done B&B is another entertaining film with damn good music as usual by S.E.L

reply

Did you actually watched the movie? I'm pretty sure Aish was the girl Big B was flirting for a year in the bus... Would make sense!
