I liked 8mm, something about that movie. It scared me - not like a horror movie would - it's hard to explain. So when I heard there was 8MM 2, I was excited. This movie has nothing to do with the first one, I don't know why it's called 8MM 2, it's a softcore porn movie. It's not that bad, even the acting isn't bad. If you're a fan of the first movie, you will be disappointed if you were expecting the same.

i think since 1st 8mm film was involved/key centrepiece to to a crime. 8mm 2 circles around blackmail and a Film
original 8mm did have some sexual content, and 8mm 2 was probably aiming at the democraphica that wanted more sex scenes

i work at blockbuster... most of our new releases are the unrated version to attract more of an audience.. i was at work today and i heard this couple zooming by "The Fog" and said OHHH!!!! its unrated!!!! I HAVENT SEE THIS ONE!!!
i hated to burst their bubble.. but i kindly reminded them how retarded they are. if an extra 10 minutes of a movie makes you feel its not the same... then may god have mercy on your soul.

I really dunno why on earth they have the idea to make a second part of 8MM. They complete scr@w the concept of the original movie, it´s a shame.
Maybe if there was a little wish to make the continuation by Nicolas Cage and Schumacher, they certainly jump out to make a new movie after this.
It sucked. Nice looking eastern european women naked is about the only redemption.
Movie of the Week acting, VERY predictable plot and gratuitous conservatism bashing and homo-angle (yawn) that is irritating enough in a good movie much less a crappy soft porn B movie.
And the title is a blatant false inference to the original.

Well, I have to say that I had no interest in seeing what I assumed was probably a truly asinine movie until I heard Babybyrd whine abut the "conservative bashing". I still think that the movie will probably suck, but now I think I'll see it, because some good old fashioned mockery aimed at Republican douchebags is always amusing. They never seem to have any sense of humor at all.

After seeing the movie in a class of mine and having a talk with the filmmaker, I found out exactly why the film bombed the way it did. The creators of the movie had no intention to call the film "8MM 2." Originally, the film was called "The Velvet Side of Hell" but was changed at the last minute by Sony Pictures to 8MM 2 without letting the filmmakers have any say in the matter. By doing that, it screwed them out of theatrical releases and doomed it to a straight to video release with minimal advertising.
Again, this is from the filmmaker's mouths, not mine, so I really can't say what is truth, and what is hype.

This wasn't bad for what it was. The name is really misleading. Not only does it have nothing to do with 8mm, there isn't even an 8mm film, projector, or camera in the movie. In fact, I think the footage that the characters are chasing around about was shot with a video camera!
This is a notch above a Cinemax movie that you'd see at 2 in the morning. The acting's not bad, the plot is derivative but not really boring. I didn't hate it. But then again, I saw it for free.
It wasn't supposed to be a sequel or even connect the 8MM but Sony changed the title to 8MM 2. It basically what has happened to that new Blair Witch film which was original titled The Wood.
