Saw The Movie Last Night

I saw this movie last night at a test screening. We were told that we were the first audience to ever see this film. It was a rough cut with a temporary music score (I recognized some music from "Million Dollar Baby"), and the sound in general was not great (background noise from the set, etc.) It obviously hasn't gone through ADR yet. Also it was a digital projection, but the quality was absolutely HORRIBLE, almost to the point of being distracting at first. Eventually I was able to ignore it and get into the story.

As for the movie itself, the performance by Sally Field is Oscar-caliber! The movie manages to be a tearjerker and hilarious at the same time, which surprised me. The acting from everyone was top-notch. The relationships were very believable. Having lost my father from cancer, parts of the movie hit very close to home. I could definitely relate to it. There are some absolutely hilarious bits in this movie that had the audience in hysterics. I really loved this movie.

I really want to see it again in its final version.

What did you think of the children? My daughter plays Sarah, and I'm eager to see the film. I hope they didn't cut her out.

Tammy:

Was your daughter the girl who played Barry's (Thomas Cavanagh's) daughter? Because she has one of the funniest lines in the whole movie. It's where she learns the phrase "Blow Me" from listening to her dad, but she doesn't yet know the proper context to use it. The audience was ROARING with laughter at that line!

reply

No, she was the other little girl who played Sarah, Ben Chaplin's daughter. The other little girl did have one of the funniest lines in the movie, my daughter had a more somber scene outside "Anita's" bedroom door and then in the bedroom with Anita. There was also an airport scene she was in with Ben and his movie wife and movie son.

My daughter was the girl with the funny line. I really hope this movie is as great as everyone is saying because otherwise it might be a bit uncomfortable facing family and friends with the "Blow me girl"? Thank you for reviewing the first cut. We were wondering when it might see daylight.
On set we got a lot of photos with the actors because so often kid parts are cut from the final. It was a fun project, one of our most enjoyable.
Question: My daughter does not have a credit on the IMDb film profile. Will she not have a credit in the film? She had four scenes and two of them were speaking. That is really OK with me since we already get a lot of work and too many e-mails, but just wondering. Also, I never got her SAG card even though she qualified through this film...should I do that?

Thanks for reviewing "Two Weeks". I was in the grocery store scene as a cashier. Had a great time with Ben Chaplain and the other cast members..
Can't wait for it to finally hit the big screen!

The grocery store scene was great! One of my favorite scenes from the movie. I actually listed that one on the test screening survey as one of my 5 favorite scenes.

Gary I was an extra in this movie and I am wondering if my scenes were cut or if I actually made it in. Since you have seen it - can you tell me if you remember a blonde sitting behing Cavanaugh in the funeral scene and a blonde teller in the bank scene?

reply

I'm sorry, but even if my memory were good enough to recall seeing you in those scenes, the quality of the picture at this test screening was so horrible, that people in the background would be very difficult to see clearly.

reply

the whole funeral scene was taken out. I was at a screening (I think the second) and they mention they are playing it off a dvd and warn you first thats not what the movie is going to look like, its really rough etc....

I talked with the director and I mentioned the opening title sequence seemed weird and I didn't like it, he agreed and said hes not sure what to do with it. I'm pretty sure Ben Chaplins daughter was still in the rough cut, im positive the airport scenes made it.

Anyway as you can tell from reading these postings, the people who saw it and said the quality was bad but you got over it REAL quick. The story is true, amazing, and there is no realase date planeed because distribution companies are stupid and don't want to take a "chance" on the movie. This movie would not be a chance. Anyone investing in it would get 10x their investment back. The director is having a hard time selling the movie right now and thats the bottom line.

All but one person in the theater that I overheard said the movie was absolutley fabulous. I concur.

Can anyone tell me if the scene was cut with the Hospice administrators? It takes place in the living room with administrator Gerald and his assistant Becky from Hospice and the family. It would be a fairly short scene. It's early on the day the Hospice nurse comes to live in.
Thanks!

Does anyone know when this movie is actually going to be released. It sounds like an adult film that I would like to see. I like Ben Chaplin and Sally Field is always good

wow, I am so surprised that people that are actually are in these films post on here. Thats amaizing. I am 16, and I one day want to be an actor. I live in Kansas, so Its not really likely to even make it big until I decide to move to somewhere like L.A. How do you get these 'extra' scenes? And how do you try out for this kind of stuff when you have no lines, or just a few lines? Please fill me in.
I know youre probably wondering how the heck I even found out about this movie..well..I love Sally Field. She is my favorate actress and she is my idol. I hope to one day meet her, even though its a very large longshot! Thanks for putting so much work into movies...guys!

Good luck Ciara-Marie! I'm Anna Grace's mom, and she auditioned for her part (a principle speaking role). Two Weeks was actually shot in Nashville, TN and we live here. Get in touch w/talent agencies in your area....send them some snapshots of yourself, go interview w/them, let them direct you toward workshops. Whatever you do, research it! Be careful of modeling schools that want thousands of dollars, they are not agencies and usually don't book you for auditions. "one day" could be TODAY!!

Wow thanks so much for that enthusiasm! I am sooo suprised that you live in Nashville TN, I want to visit there so bad. Not only because of the oppertunities but because I have a LOVE for Country music. LOL.. not only do I have dreams of being an actress, I want to be a Country Music Manager for agencies! how amaizing would that be? It is like impossible to get anything good here in KAnsas, and I dont think we have any agencies. My parents arent the type of people who bend over backwards for their childrens futures, so most likely they wont take the "hey lets move to LA, or HEY LETS MOVE TO NASHVILLE" think too smoothly. yet, I have moved around because my dad is in the Air Force. I have lived in Kansas, North Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Germany. thanks for the post. you should definatly comment back!

I'm a firm believer that you can achieve anything your mind believes! Start looking in the local Yellow Pages for talent agencies. Then call them and see when they have "open call", or ask them their mailing address so you can send them some snapshots. Remember, any pictures should be of you only, and they should be clear. Also, make sure you send them a close-up of your face and a full length shot so they can see your figure. Reputable agencies will NOT ask you to send any photos or do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If you have high standards, you will get quality work. You can visit my daughter's website and see some of her shots. www.annagracesmith.com Good Luck!!
