Amazing Performances by Sally Field and Ben Chaplin

The production of Two Weeks, being shot out in Tennessee, was a hectic but a gratifying month after production was completed. I was on set observing the performances of Sally Field and Ben Chaplin...

There was a 'two-week' period where the majority of the crew had to be crammed into this tiny room to shoot Sally Field, everyone was drained and exhausted. It was so ironic, because it really felt as if someone was dying, and this sacred room had silenced us all. I was humbled by Sally Field's performance, not even looking through the monitor, but by watching her live, 10 ft away, in action. She had a way of changing the mood and pace of the entire crew; truly dramatic.

Sally was cute and quiet on the set, she was flawless and astonishing. She would slowly get out of the transportation vehicle that took her to set and walk into that house day in an day out with a calming smile on her face. Her eyes were glossy and sparkled with delight, just like a mother with cancer would, knowing she raised some beautiful children. Her performance was compelling and...compelling. Perfect. There's not much more to say after that.

I especially liked the few late nights we had because the amazing production staff would treat us to KFC or ....KFC. But either way it was good chicken and mashed potatoes. Ben Chaplin is such a cool, down to earth guy in real life. He's always talking and interacting with everyone finding out people's life stories, just makes him a real person, not some blown up actor, he really lifts people up, the way we all act when we hang out with our friends, just shooting the crap and enjoying life.

As for the rest of the crew, Tom, Julianne, they sucked ...joking, they were amazing as well. Tom was hilarious, he taught me, well nothing, but he showed me that I can go custom make my own nike shoes online, which I think is pretty valuable...haha, and Julianne, I wish she would be in my movies. She is like the amazing drama girl in highschool where you think, "Ya know, one day that girl is going to make it big." She actually did it.

I think it really takes an amazing cast and crew to have a great movie, to me that's obvious. Because, you never hear about and awful attitude that made a great film. I truly believe this will be one of the best films this year...this movie will be remembered.

You sound as though you saw quite a bit of the shooting...Do you remember the scenes with Ben and "his" two children "Sarah" and "Ben"? My daughter played Sarah. She had a couple of scenes in the house, one outside the bedroom door with Big Ben and Little Ben, and then one inside with Sally Field. If you do remember those scenes, I would value your opinion of my daughter's scenes. THanks!

Tammy,

was this a shot of the two children kicking the soccer ball back and forth outside? I thought that scene was really nicely shot, and they kids did a good job for how old they were. Sorry but I don't significantly remember the other scenes you mentioned.

Her shots were inside the house with Ben Chaplin and Sally Field and a little boy who played her little brother. She actually had a speaking role at the house and in the airport scenes. Thanks anyway!

No arguments from me regarding Sally Fields' performance here. Just the right amount of braveness and fear. Mr Chaplin was good in the part, but I really had a hard time accepting him as Sally Fields son with his thinly disguised british accent. If the rest of the cast had been English he would have been spot on, but with the rest of the family as they were? Doesn't really fit with the family.
