She was just wrong for the part and it seems she wasn't happy with the finished movie either... she's much better in smaller drama films than studio blockbusters like HANCOCK.

sharepersonally, I'm simply not a fan of hers. shes not my type lookswise, and I only know her from a handful of things, like sweet November (which was actually good), devils advocate, again with Keanu lol, and this movie though I was honestly surprised she was even in something like this. I know shes famous for monster, but that isn't the sort of thing I would like to watch. I just find her to be overrated in just about every way from looks to acting. I much prefer her in smaller doses, like when she had bit parts back in the day as side characters. as a lead, I cant stand her.

I came here in hopes that someone else agreed with me. She is a terrible actress who did really well in Monster. But it seems A LOT of terrible actors and actresses do really well as public figures in bio flicks and nothing else. There are countless examples. She is just one of them, only for some reason people keep expecting her to bring more to the table and she never does. She's flat out ruined a couple films for me including this and Prometheus.
And bringing meaningless accolades into it like "The Oscars" is not a valid argument.

You've been an IMDb member for six years and your only contributions so far have been two threads on the Hancock board questioning Charlize Theron's acting ability and a review of Prometheus. Why?

Disagree entirely, Theron is great. Watch _Snow White and the Huntsman_ for example. She delivers a multi-layered performance that makes you wonder whether to root for SW or for the witch.
Prometheus is an exception. She had a minor role and was wasted in the film. Blame the writer(s)/director for that one, not the actress.
