Lack of Chemistry?

I was wondering if anyone else thought that Alan Rickman and Carrie Ann Moss didn't have much chemistry. I'm not dissing either actor, they were both doing their thing, Alan was great... it just didn't "mesh" sometimes, there was something missing.

I thought the movie was fantastic, amazing really, and I've watched it 3 times in the last couple of days. It was very emotional, sometimes I'd laugh and the next scene feel tears in my eyes. It was a very sweet film. The only parts that seem awkward and forced to me (and not just because the scenes are supposed to be awkward), are a few of the scenes between Alex and Maggie.

Mind you, not all of them, but a lot of them. I found the "date/sex" scene was particularly very awkward to watch. Maybe it's just Carrie Ann Moss' lines or acting that were uncomfortable, but something was off for me. It's not the fact that it was a sex scene or the age difference between the characters. Being an Alan Rickman fan, I'm used to that (most of his love interested are 10-30 years younger than him in his movies). lol But after watching it a few times, I'm thinking it's either the writing in those scenes or just a lack of chemistry between Alan and Carrie. It could just be me though. hehe

Anyone else think so?

I'm glad someone else thought so too. I thought the whole relationship was kind of random. There were some uses for her character, like Maggie finally getting the bags of trash at the end etc, but the relationship was just odd for the most part. The only scene that didn't seem weird to me, was the first one she was in, when Alex and Maggie were talking at the fence while Linda played in the snow.

I kept thinking that Maggie had more "issues" than Linda, what with needing to have sex with a guy at least twice her age! (I hope she kept some Viagra around, wanting to do it more than once with the geezer...)

Considering that he thought she was a prostitute, I thought the chemistry was right. He looked really uncomfortable until he found out he didn't have to pay her.

Yea I thought their scenes were awkward. Mostly on her part..

Carrie Anne Moss was awesome in this movie, that's why she was the only one to win an award for her role. I personally liked the "relationship" between her and Alex.

It's a great advertisement for the town of Wawa that the British accent when used coyly will mean you can bed the town's shady lady within minutes of meeting her.

Oh yeah, and the fishing is good. But watch out for the drivers there!
