To all Psych majors please help

Please help guys, I need your reaction on this.

I together with my other classmates are going to have a psychological film review about this movie. Well, I have my own things in mind but I need further commnets about this movies psychological "realm". Please use Freud's theory regarding the id, ego and superego and also his theories about defence mechanisms, Jacob Moreno's psychodrama and Henry Murray's personology. And note that we will focus on Tess.

Here's how it goes: (Tess is regarded as "the psycho")
*Tess is obsessed in being a good friend to Holly wich makes her uneasy if Holly has other friends.
*Tess has a habit of machocism. (correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm wrong what is she doing in that "bar" called SIN anyway? She always say: "Tighter, tighter,)
*Tess has a "belief" that to ease someone's pain you must end his or her life.
*Tess wants to help her friends.
*Tess is a lesbian/bisexual. (Is she? If she is, what is she? A lesbian or bisexual?")
*Tess has a dislike to date men.
*Tess had some guy who had just "played" with her in her early in her life. (Maybe high school or college, I didn't quite remember already)

I also have some questions on you guys.
1. When Holly saw "blood"(But actually it's just hair dye) on the floor, she remebered that memory when her mother commited suicide. Is it repression or suppression? My answer is repression, is it right?
2. Does the defence mechanism called inversion start the abnormal behavior of masochism if misused?

That's all guys, thanks for those who will reply and answer my questions,...
:-)

I am wishing you the best of luck in your studies, but do you think it's a good idea to trust the answers of a bunch of random moviegoers to help you pass your course?

Your assignment -or whatever- is probably long since overdue and handed in, but I still should like to add my two cents worth:
Ok, Freud has long since been disregarded in mainstream psychology. The reasons for this are more complex than I should like to go into here, but suffice it to say that the 'science' of psychoanalytical study, is entirely un-scientific.
There have been schools which have branched off from it, however, such as the psychodynamic theory.
I might recommend that you chose to explore fields that have a future, rather than one which dead-ended long ago.
As I say, It's just my two cents worth. I know that sometimes in assignments, they make you choose between answering questions from the point of view of the CBT-based-thoery, or the psychodynamic-theory, etc, and that sometimes you don't have a choice. If however, you do have a choice, I recommend that you choose something other than psychoanalytical theory. The time you spend doing research in that field could better be spent studying... well, anything really.
Peace Out.

I agree with Razar,
Sig Fraud (Freud :P) is really outdated and most of his theories and ideas about human development have been disproved by other qualitative and quantitative research.

Tess is not best understood with sig's ideas at all, in fact, Tess' screwed upness is the result of a personality disorder. Likely border-line personality disorder with anti-social tendencies.
She has an innate drive to kill other people which is the result of an anti-social personality disorder, but longs for attention, interaction and emotion which results from her border-line disorder. Her bisexuality, homosexuality that you discuss is also characteristic of border-line personality disorder.
These are the "nature" characteristics that make tess, or her personality characteristics that she is born with that predispose her to live her life a particular way.
However, there are many people who suffer form anti-social personality disorders and border-line personality disorders who live normal lives.
However, the pass that Tess describes mixed with her personality tendencies lead to what you saw in the movie. Her obsession with "helping" people in a weird way that she determines to be the right way, etc.

Anyway, what was the result of your project if you still visit this board? how did you do?
