Throwing in my two cents *spoilers*

From DC, comes a movie that’s really good in places, and meh In other places. This is not as bad as “Suicide Squad”, but it’s not as good as “Wonder Woman”. This is the awkward middle ground that you will either love, or hate (if two of my friends on here are any consolation.) then again, this is a review by me, and if you read any of my reviews, you know the set-up that’s coming.

Pro:
A whole lot of wins to showing the foster care system in a positive light!!!! I know a lot of people who are foster parents, and were foster children, and I’m always upset that the system is treated as a plot convience in movies to show how messed up a character’s life is, rather than showing what it’s like to be in a system that tries to be a family. Yes, I know their are some awful people out there who are foster parents, and that should be addressed, but, being me, I love it when a system with good intentions is shown in a positive light. Seriously, DC can do that, so no one else has room to say it’s not possible.

Billy is an amazing lead character. Every time he was on screen, I was impressed by how good this kid was. He showed a realistic look at what child abandonment can do to a person, and dear lord, I said if you took out every super hero thing in this movie, you’d probably have an Oscar nominated drama just on this kid alone!!!

Zachary Levi is hilarious in this role. I 100% believed this was a child in an adult’s body. He had so many great comedic moments. The one thing I wished was that he had some dramatic moments like Billy does throughout the movie.

I love every one of the kids in this movie. They felt like actual children going through a tough life, and tough decisions.

Iffy:
The villain- I clearly understood his motivations... but he also was pretty generic... but he was a fun over the top... except when he wasn’t... this guy was pretty inconsistent.

The production design seemed... odd. One moment, everything was a dark lit sequence that we’ve come to expect from DC, but then it’s so bright, it was a little painful on my eyes.

Cons:
The villain’s family was laughable. The dad would have been fine on his own, but what the heck was up with the brother? I know he’s supposed to be a douchebag, but... it felt super off.

The design of the seven deadly sins... alright, their wasn’t even a design, I’m pretty sure they picked up an old 1920’s comic, and whatever Marvel didn’t use, and made the most generic monster design they could muster.

Overall, the film is good, but theirs a lot of inconsistencies that do get distracting, and the bad stuff really sticks out. In some ways, the bad stuff helps the good stuff show itself, and show more effort was put into it more than the hot topic commercial we called “Suicide Squad” (please Gunn, do it right.) but I’m glad DC is having more fun with their movies, and trying new things. So for “Wonder Woman 1984” PlEaSe DoN’t SuCk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
