I loved it

It is a good, wholesome and quality adventure. If I was a teenager again I would have loved it more. I have very low standards when it comes to a movie like this, and my only requirement is that it must provide fun. That's what movies like these are there for - for fun. I had fun and I hope you do too.

I just saw it, liked it too. Better than the trailer made me think it would be.

Same... I thought I'd hate it given the reviews.

Goes to show, some movies that are bagged are quite often just that little bit ok, that makes you go "That wasn't so bad!" at the end..

I finally saw it last night, and was glad I'd streamed it, as it's so rare that I can get out to a theater that I'd have felt very let down had I wasted a precious night of freedom on this film. It wasn't awful, and it had a lot of funny moments, but it lacked... something? It was definitely out of balance, in that it was for the most part a kid's movie, but with many moments of sudden violence and gore that were far too intense for a child. Perhaps it was a bit too predictable as well, and lacked any one moment of epic heroism; it was too goofy? In any event, since the DC v. Marvel comparison is omnipresent, I'd say it's the best thing I've seen yet from the DC side of things, but I I'd rate it dead last if ranking it against the 22 MCU films.

I agree.. I certainly didn't hate it but I did put it off due to the negative reviews I'd seen, and it did appear as a kids movie from the trailer. But I was still surprised I did mostly enjoy it. It just, well it didn't know what it wanted to be. That's what I felt the most.

I also liked the movie The Mask when it was out years ago. Everyone said it was utter rubbish, and not worth the time.. So when I saw it, I expected the worst.. and while it was certainly not a movie you remember after the fact, it was enjoyable for what it was.

Perhaps, with lowered expectations, I seem to see the better parts in something.. I don't know, lol.

Haha you cannot rank this against those films. If they were a book, this would be the bookmark. :)

finally got to watch Shazam....

for me it was a completely mixed bag..

The story and overall "family" tone was good

but Shazam's complete Ineptitude got old very quickly, Immediately after turning into Shazam, there was about a 8 min period where it was fun and enjoyable seeing him be use useless and learning his powers...But He basically was useless and A Jerk for The rest of The Movie until the Climax...I found myself thinking a lot "Ok this is getting old and kinda of infuriating"

Then The Climax hits and is IMO by far the best part of the film and for me at least saved the movie.

overall 7/10...

IMO I think WB should feel extremely luckily that this film was received as well as it was...If I knew nothing about this film, I would expect it to received like 60 to 70% on RT and just be considered decent....

The fact that this film is universally praised and has great scores IMO WB should be incredibly grateful for.

I must admit though, I have no real desire for a sequel....Nothiing about this film got me excited for more Shazam movies

Shazam was a better film than Captain Marvel imo. It was nice that it was sort of a return to magic in the same vein as Raimi's Spider-man films. The CGI and visuals for Shazam were actually quite nice. Not perfect but quite good for me. I bring up Captain Marvel because it out grossed Shazam which I scratched my head over. I guess it had the Marvel logo on it and the fact that it was building up a character after Infinity war.

I agree that Shazam is better than Captain Marvel. But much to my surprise, I actually liked Captain Marvel. Sure, it was run of the mill like so many other Marvel films but it wasn't bad. Top half of the Marvel films for me.

And Shazam might be the best DC film so far.
