I do not understand the DC Vs Marvel debate!

I love comics and as a comic book reader I easily navigate and switch between DC and Marvel. For example I am a huge Fantastic Four fans, they are the character that made me fall in love with comics but I grew to love DC characters as well. Right now my monthly purchased are Fantastic Four, Teen titans, Shazam!, Asguardians of the galaxy, The hulk and Detective comics and some IDW comics as well. So yeah I read a pretty mix bag. I actually feel the same about the movies as well. I can see both Marvel and DC and enjoy both more or less depending on the characters. My fav Marvel films are the two Guardian of the galaxy and Infinity war and my Fav DC films are Wonderwoman and Shazam!. But there are special group of people that feel it's necessary to hate on one studio or the other , I really do not know what they are after by creating post just to put down either Marvel or DC. They would often pick on the box office return on a movie as a way of attacking a film "It did so much less than a Marvel film, it suuuuuucks! You DC looosers! *Add beavis and butt head type of laughter* like if that alone makes it a bad film. Do they realize how childish they sound? To me , unfortunately, they are the ones that gives comic book fans a bad name. And the irony is they are not even real comic book fans as real comic book fans does not go into that ridiculous debate. The only DC vs Marvel I would be interested in would be on the big screen.

Its stupid tribalism at its finest. Its like Peanut Butter people bitching about Jelly People. You can say Peanut Butter and Jelly are both good. But try telling that to die hard Peanut Butter fan and die hard Jelly fans.

reply

haha Yeah pretty much

reply

Peanut Butter wins, because it goes with chocolate better than jelly.

reply

as if they're not consumers of both.

they're sitting next to each other at the theater without realizing it.

reply

I'm sure they do

reply

You got that right!

reply

Yeah I don't get why you can't enjoy both ...

reply

You hit the nail on the head, most that fan this imaginary flame war are filthy casuals that just want to seem like they been a fan from day one when in reality they likely had never touched a comic book before the first Iron Man film came out.

reply

I don't get it, either. I want to see the DCCU succeed as much as the MCU. I'm glad they seem to be getting their shit together now.

reply

I don't even think it's a DC vs Marvel debate so much as a "WB handling of DC vs. Disney handling of Marvel" debate. I held up Superman The Movie as the best a CBM movie could be for YEARS. The DC stable of heroes deserves better than what they've gotten.

Heck, we're on a board debating a movie that isn't even a DC character!

reply

Me either. I have seen all Marvel movies (not just MCU movies) since the first X-Men in the theater except for the Blade sequels and the 2015 Fantastic Four. Yep, I even saw Punisher: War Zone and the Ghost Rider sequel.

I have seen all DC movies going back to Batman Returns (was too young to have seen the first Burton Batman in the theater) in the theater except Catwoman, Constantine, and Jonah Hex. Yes, I saw Steel and Green Lantern...

reply

Personally I'm sick of all of them.

reply

Hell yes. Every time I want to go to a movie, 9 of the 12 screens are playing the same superhero or kids' flick and everything else is played once a day at stupid o'clock.

reply

Agree with the OP 100%

Its pathetic and juvenile how people are so biased towards one or the other.

I enjoy comic books of all sorts and when I go to the cinema I just want to see a great comic book movie, it matters not which logo the movie has on the opening credits.
