i saw all robin's movies the way he talks.... moves his hand .....walks everything ..... i got a feeling he is a bi who likes women and men i know he is married have childrens this film proof it
The man is vain. The affectations of a vain person doesn't make the person gay. Being an actor, I guess one has to be that way to be able to play virtually any type of character, and be good at all of them.
Is he gay? To my knowledge he is not, but one never knows. More importantly, does it matter?
Well let us not forget The Bird Cage, maybe that's a clue.
Just playing, I love Williams and don't give a damn either way. My uncle swears he's gay though ever since he saw some awards show on TV to which Robin took another man. Don't ask me who, or when. I dunno. Who cares?
Isn't Robin Williams the guy who left his first wife (or second or something) for the nanny?...I don't think he did that to prove something! He' straight but has played at least two gay characters by my count ("Night Listener" and "Birdcage") but considering he's been in maybe close to 100 movies (at least it feels like that many), including voices in animated movies, that doesn't seem like a lot.
Well, don't forget he is a manic depressive, and it is possible that the manic side of him comes off as being a bit fey. Does that make sense??????? I don't know.
honestly, i don't think the OP was being stupid in wondering this. i think maybe naive, but certainly not basing the original question on one or two of Mr Williams' roles. i think i know what was being implied and yes, Robin does come off as odd and fey...whether he is gay or not i think is moot. i just don't think it is fair to bash the OP for their naivety, it was clear nothing mean spirited or spiteful was intended.
First: God made EVERYTHING including everybody. No matter gay, straight, bi, black, white, yellow, Jewish, Muslim, or Christian -- we are all God's children!
Second: Get your insults right next time. "Adam and STEVE" not Steven. It is supposed to rhyme...
------------------------------------------ God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steven -------------------------------------------
But, surprisingly God also made ppl like U - the clan of doofuses on the face of earth, proving that all sort of things exist in the world and homosexuality is one of them, so lets embrace what we have got...
[The man is vain. The affectations of a vain person doesn't make the person gay. Being an actor, I guess one has to be that way to be able to play virtually any type of character, and be good at all of them.]
So you're saying you and Robin are both gay. You're actors, right?
" I guess Bicentennial Man proved that he is a robot. "
Not only "Bicentenial Man" and Fender in "Robots" but also as Dr. Know in "A.I.". All the clues are there. I really do think Williams is a gay robot. Besides I'm kinda attracted to him....
OMG!! I'M A GAY ROBOT TOO! How do I tell my wife and kids!?!?!?!
Lmao! I was having a really bad day, but you made me smile, thanks.
And I guess I wish he had been gay, perhaps he would have been a happier person,,,I absolutely loved the man, I actually learned english watching Mork&Mindy.
No it's not that that makes him bi. Doing mountains upon mountains of cocaine in LA - THAT makes you bi!! And I'm doing the math on that one and coming out with a BI-nomial answer.
IM surprised you acusing robin williams of being gay.....johnny depp wears make up in his roles is he next?.....really amazing that idiots like you say things like that review the film not the mans supposed sexual preference...and it was bicentennial man not bi-sexual man...crikey amazingly stupid comments on this post
You're questions seemed straightforward enough to me. However I think the question may more likely be 'Do you think Robin might be bisexual?' and I would be inclined to say yes though you can never tell.
I think the situation might be similar with Kevin Spacey, I'm sure that people thought that he was gay or bisexual.
At the end of the day I think both are great actors and that's the main thing.
Why are so many people getting angry about this poster's question? It's no more absurd than the usual ramblings and rantings on this board. It's a conversational gambit, not a definitive answer he's looking. In case you didn't know, the sexuality of a lot of Holywood actors is pretty ambiguous, besides in the inquisitve society that we live in, questions like this come up a lot. If you get offended by trivial questions, then I suggest you look elsewhere for intellectual stimulation. Let's face it coming on to an internet board for intellectual discussion is a bit of an oxymoron!
I'm more concerned that hes your favourite actor!Maybe I'm missing something, but I find him very one-dimensional in his portrayal's, in fact, he bugs the hell out of me.I think the only movie I liked him in was The Fisher King. He's either way over the top, or totally sheepish. There's no middle ground with him.
Dont forget that he is first and foremost an alien. Besides, everyone knows he is too hairy and not muscular enough to be gay. I kid, one of my favorite dramatic actors (Good Will Hunting, one of the best performance of recent) and a great villain (Insomnia). His last stand up on Broadway was hilarious, as well. I digress, a valid question, but not in that he played a homosexual character. Colin Farrell has played it gay in several movies, and I am sure most do not object to his hetero status.
Why are you so obsessed with Robin Williams' sexuality? Do you want to have sex with him? Maybe so. You know what they say about allegedly straight men who spend so much time thinking about what other men do in bed with each other: they're gay themselves but don't want to admit it. What people do in bed is nobody else's business. There are far more important things to think about. So if you're spending time obsessing about other's sex lives, maybe you should ask yourself why.
Ditto wee-9, Robin Williams at best has effeminate characteristics, especially when he starts his eclectic banter, but that alone does not in anyway suggest or any indication that he is gay.
Common folks the man is simply in touch with himself and doesn't allow any inhibitions to get in the way. He's been married twice why go threw it a second time if he were gay, geez what a stupid question!!!
During the '80s, Williams overcame a serious drug addiction, divorced his first wife, and married his son's nanny(of 17yrs), who has since become his manager and the mother of his daughter and second son. Sounds like real closet case to me, serious pun intended!
He is currently a recovering alcoholic.
Get real folks, wait a minute maybe if we keep this topic alive long enough Robin will become gay eventually?
You know it's no wonder that old what'sisname spends so much money and ruins so many other people's lives with his determination to prove he's not gay. If this many people can seriously debate about whether a straight like Robin Williams bats for the other team.
Although there are still a few straight blokes in Hollywood who won't take a gay role, the success that actor's such as Russel Crowe and Tom Hanks have had after playing gay characters has meant that a great many straight actors will. The only actors who refuse to play gay men are exactly the sort of gay closet cases some in this this thread have insinuated Williams may be, given that he has played gay roles, I guess that makes him straight.
So if people really have nothing better to occupy themselves with than the sexuality of an actor, who if he/she is any good as an actor won't let that impinge on their performance in the slightest, they would do better to concentrate on the types who assuredly swagger around a police station or a flight deck with nary a trace of a mince, in any role ever. It's them! The rotten pillow biting...(fill in the blanks)
There are still some producers who reckon that the sexuality of a lead actor can negatively effect US box office. Like this thread that tells us more about the weirdness of amerikans than it does actors but that's hardly news either.
Reading all this stuff is absolutely hilarious. Having acted the part of a gay man makes him gay, having acted the part of a robot makes him a robot. Come to think of it how do we know that he was never given the chance to play the role of an actor; is it because they never considered him to be one? Or better yet, maybe he is gay and pretending to be an actor so some stupid mutt would start a thread about him "Is Robin really an actor?" Peace people and Goodwill to all men.
umm... some might read this and suggest that I am gay. I wonder...
I swear down right, near enough every male actor has a thread askin if they are gay, who gives a *beep* ask a question with some meaning you imbosiles.
Williams' first marriage was to Valerie Velardi on June 4 1978, with whom he had one child, Zachary (born 1983). The marriage ended in 1988. On April 30 1989, he married Marsha Garces, Zachary's former nanny. They have two children, Zelda Ray (born 1989) and Cody Alan (born 1992).
Not that it matters cause he is funny and a great actor but if you ever watched the movie about his life his former wife does make an accusation that he has slept or messed around with the opposite sex when he was just becoming famous, and hitting the Hollywood party life, Plan as day. She says you need to stop messing around and not just with women in so many words. But of course in the end it's his business and it would not change anything about him or his work.
Plus it is rare that a lot of talents let anything personal like that out due to fear of their image being reduced and in his case he does a lot of childrens shows as well as mature movies thrillers etc and the bigger the start the less chance your gonna know.
FYI the guy who played Robin Williams in this tv movie does a very good job playing him and I would think he is hard as hell to immitate. It was really worth watching for those two reasons. Nice to hear his story and the talent of the dude that played him.
