Joke about the final finished adventure?

Do you think it's deliberate that Kevin's actual published version of his adventure was one of the "Dungeon Crawl Classics"? This brand of adventure modules is pretty much antithetical to what he was trying to run. From their website:

"Remember the good old days, when adventures were underground, NPCs were there to be killed, and the finale of every dungeon was the dragon on the 20th level? Those days are back. Dungeon Crawl Classics don't waste your time with long-winded speeches, weird campaign settings, or NPCs who aren't meant to be killed."

It's very possible that Lodge had a change of heart and lightened up a bit when it came to NPC deaths by the time he actually sat down to write the module. It's hinted that he was gradually loosening up his control over his players toward the end of the campaign (as Joanne had suggested he do), so he probably wised-up a bit as well and decided to not be so restrictive on player-character hijinx. Every good DM should know when to reign in his players and when to just let them have their fun.
