The page is not in English but if you have visited internet shops before you should be able to figure out how to navigate the site.

Anyone know when it will be released?

I've been wondering the same thing. All I've been able to find so far is a TBA release date sometime in 2008. I've heard some rumors about the company who made the film went bankrupt, and that someone bought the rights...but nothing has come of it yet.

If anyone has any information, it would be appreciated.

It's on TV all the time. I have Bresnan Cable in the US and it's for free On Demand. It's either on HBO or Starz.

There are two ways to get this on DVD;
Buy it from Amazon (Two copies last time I checked)
Download it from youku ( http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTIwOTA1MzM2.html )
To download it from youku press the down arrow in the green circle and download the program required. !THE PROGRAM IS IN SIMPLIFIED CHINESE!
Create an account on youku, setup the program you just downloaded, sign into youku with the program. Now go back to the movie page and click the download link again. It should then work. (This is how I did it) It'll download as an FLV file. FLV's can be played with VLC Media Player. (I suggest deleteing the youku program and keeping VLC) To get to the movie, goto /My Documents/My Videos/Youku/downloaded.

Thanks everybody. I'm the one Tammilee68 was trying to get it for. I finally got it in April of 2009. It is the Brazilian import. Love this movie, one of my favorite AnnaSophia Robb movies.

I didn't feel a need to start a new topic as this one seemed fairly relevant. Despite this recent rebirth ( again ), I have doubts about when this film will actually be released to the U.S. I find that extremely unfortunate.

What's my point of this post? I feel more people should have a chance to see this film. YouTube is an okay preview but just so cumbersome, poor quality, and broken apart. The experience doesn't do it justice. Unfortunately, the official Brazilian DVD ( EM BUSCA DA FELICIDADE ) isn't of extravagant quality either. Nonetheless... I was able to acquire the DVD through eBay ( someone who imports movies and music for U.S. fans ). I'm not at all condoning piracy but lack of reasonable availability of this film pushes my intents. I'd gladly suggest buying it at a local retailer; renting it from Netflix, Blockbuster, etc but that isn't an option right now. I'm convinced that when the DVD is ever released, there will be more than plenty of fans to grab up a copy real quick.

I want to give this a try. I've ripped the DVD to M4V format and even grabbed the 'title' song in M4A format. I'm picky about my quality so I've encoded both in the best possible newest formats available. Should be fairly equal to a purchase from the iTunes Store. The song quality is double ( 320Kbps vs 160Kbps ) of the movie ( just because I wanted it. ) Once again, the original content isn't of superb quality ( dang you financial woes ) but very reasonable / good. The video retains chapters and both stereo / Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound English audio tracks. As far as the song credits, I went off of the tiny bit of information I could find for it. Don't yell at me if it is incorrect.

Best if played using iTunes or QuickTIme, both freely downloadable for Windows / Mac OS.

There is a monthly transfer limit of 200GB, so this isn't going to be all out. The links below are valid for 30 days unless things get out of hand.

As I said, I'll give this a shot.

Thank you for very much for this. I was disheartened to find I couldn't get this on Netflix.

really really nice work , i really do hope we will have a chance to actually buy the dvd/blu ray , movies that subtly invigorating shouldnt have that much trouble beeing commercialised/produced and thats our job consumers to encourage them, lets hope the rebirth wont be a "pipe dream" lol

I'm glad you appreciate it. It's a film I have no doubts about promoting. I would really prefer it to be available through normal means and have them make a ton of $$$ but it just hasn't gotten there. I'm sort of surprised some other company ( with money ) hasn't taken interest in helping this film go mainstream. I'd like to encourage...

- U.S. availability ( I wouldn't be complaining about worldwide availability )
- High quality DVD with "the making" / behind the scenes and deleted scenes
- An official soundtrack ( hopefully available through iTunes )

I just don't see how it couldn't become a hit. I've seen ( no pun intended ) a lot crappier movies make it much 'bigger' just because they were advertised more. Sad, so sad.

If you haven't yet, check out the Director's Statement on why Brad wrote it... Pretty neat

P.S. While all the cast does very well, it's the first time I recall seeing any performance by Cayden Boyd and felt he does a superb job at acting awkward throughout the film.

couldnt agree more overall , seems like films that do well or are wanted to be do so are films that all of us can really deeply realate to , like lets learn "how to live a great life in shmurfs planet" ,or "how our planet will disaear wordlessly in about two years in a tornado of pointless special effects", god this is depressing, lets hope genuine ,sensitive, well crafted movies like this one , will become fashionable one day , i dont have much hope unfortunately, its likely to remain an intimate, solitary experience .Btw you re right , nice description of the the birth of an artistic project from the director, and of course nice job sharing it with us and i'll finish by a solemn (lol) tribute to both cayden boyd and Robb's performances(watchout particularly for Robb in years to come, i think she already is a very charismatic actress).ok whatever.

Victim to financial issues from the very beginning unfortunately. Reliant Pictures is the holder of the film and... Well...

Many of the actors worked for a significantly discounted salary to make this production possible.

Originally set for a US theatrical release in late 2007 and then 2008, it languished in a vault secondary to the production company going bankrupt after post-production was already completed.
