Netflix's description of the film isn't even close /smh

I just saw that this movie was added to Neflix. Their description/plot summary is: "Shunned by a husband who's more interested in his scientific research than his marriage, simpleminded Kitty Fane embarks on a quest for fulfillment."

WTF??? Um, 1, she's not simpleminded, and 2 she's forced on this "quest", she doesn't choose to do it. Just makes me shake my head. Where did this get this description? Did no one at Netflix ever watch the movie? Or do they think this description will draw more viewers than an accurate one? Baffling.

I just noticed that description myself and was incredibly irked by it! I saw the film when it was first released about 10 years ago. I found it haunting and so interesting that I decided to read the book. I watched the film again tonight and found it still haunting and poignant. But back to your original post, what is up with that summary???? I think it is pure laziness or ignorance of the work as opposed to an attempt to draw more viewers.

It also annoyed me. The description is the exact opposite of real story lol

That is a somewhat misleading summary. Plus, he only shuns her cause of the affair. They make it sound like he only shuns her cause he's more interested in science than he is their marriage when the truth is that's only the case cause she had an affair.
