Very mature...

Did anyone else notice that this movie seemed far more mature, even somewhat explicit, than the typical Disney animated fare? My case in point:

1. The action scenes were far more intense than anything we've seen in the series, without the usual humor to break them up. The opening sequence more closely resembled a Bond movie (which it was obviously patterned after--see the opening titles for proof) than anything from the series.

2. "Don't shower; I like it when you glisten." Could there be a more overt reference to the fact that sex was going to take place? I think not, at least not on the Disney Channel.

3. Shego actually draws blood from Kim during a fight, as Kim's clothing gets blasted twice (once by the laser, once by Shego). I don't think Kim was ever visibly injured in the series.

4. The very un-Disney end to Shego, which involves Kim telling Shego that she hates her before executing a move which, if this wasn't the Disney Channel, clearly would have killed her foe.

5. Kim and Shego showing off far more skin than ever before. The dresses on Kim and Shego in the nightclub were very revealing, especially during the battle scene. And of course there's the dressing room scene, where Kim is shown in various stages of dress.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing--if anything, I was pleased to see Disney taking some risks with this one, but I just can't figure out why. Was it an indication of Kim being "all grown up" (though I've figured since the beginning that Shego was probably closer to 24 than 18)?

I'm going to join the discussion on two of your points.

2. "Don't shower; I like it when you glisten." Could there be a more overt reference to the fact that sex was going to take place? I think not, at least not on the Disney Channel.

I caught that long before this line. In the episode "Partners," not only was Bonnie very excited when Steve Barkin paired her up with Brick Flagg, but the MHS Football Team acted like they knew he was going to score. They were more psyched-up for this than he was. Clearly, they have an incredibly fickle and superficial relationship - typcial of the way most adults view relationships between teenagers, whether it's true or not.

Hey, don't forget Monique. She showed some skin in the dressing room too. Of course if you've seen "Rufus in Show," "Queen Bebe," "Sick Day," and "Emotion Sickness," you'd see Kim either dressing provocativley, or showing a little more skin than usual.

I loved the more mature feel to the movie. It made the drama that much more poignant, and gave the characters more of a realistic edge. Some of the stuff was pretty risque for the Disney Channel; the most notable one for me being reproduction getting a mention right at the start. I hope the new eps keep some of this stuff alive, as it gave some depth to the goings on.

I hope that the 4th series brings more of this "mature" content into Kim Possible. It really helps increase the target audience too.

to all of the questions

of course they do this, its the final tv show/movie

(ps dvd has more -scenes)

they wouldn't off made the fighting more intense if they knew people over the world would ban together to make them create 'season 4'

p.s this movie needed a more all out ending like 'a stich in time' aka someone succeeds in taking over the world but then KP saves the day

Now THATS kinda out of Disney's way of thinking, dont you think?

I hadnt had the pleasure (inmense pleasure, judging from the little I saw) to see the movie entirely, but is clearly more mature than the overall cartoon production. In fact, I didnt expect Disney will step in that kind of matters, until now, in almost all the series (not the movies, tough) love looks to be a taboo. I mean, they doesnt really conclude a pairing often

Ps: Excuse my bad grammar, Im spanish, so I would beg your forgiveness if you had a hard time reading this message

Its one of the reasons why I love this movie, more than Stich in Time.
It resolves a long speculation between Ron and Kim,the movie itself is fairly darker than the show. Drakken's plot is taken seriously to the writers without comedic mishaps. The violence is very intense, and gives a lot of eye candy.
I loved it.

The movie was still really good though. And I did notice the last move Kim did on Shego would have totally killed her. She like threw her in the water with like a building on top of her!

And I wonder how Disney feels about the new season where we'll see a lot of dating between Kim and Ron all season. Half the time Disney strays away from this a lot and waits til like the very end of the show to ever have the ones who are meant to be together finally hook up. Like Phil of the Future, Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire. They'll usually have an episode here and there about dating and sometimes they'll tease by having them go out one episode only to have them break up at the end of it! But Kim is definitly not gonna probably focus that much on the relationship, it'll just be in it. Half the episode will be fighting and stuff too. But I'm really glad they'll be dating next season!

"See, this is what happens when a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon reproduce."

That line made me laugh hard, especially her parent's faces when she said i.

Very risque for disney....

Yes, I quite enjoyed the more mature content (mature, not adult), especially at the end where we see a rather darker Kim. I was actually disappointed with the Shego fight, I know it's Disney but I think they should have made it look like Kim had killed Shego, at least until she appeared again in the new episodes. Also, did anyone else notice that when Drakken thinks he's won and Kim confronts him how she looked like she had been pushed over the edge? That was much better than the other adult situations such as Kim stripping out of her wetsuit, stopping Ron from following her into the ladie's bathroom, or the fights with Shego that, as had been pointed out, were just vicious.

I've heard that the original intent was for Shego to die, as StD was supposed to be the last episode, but Disney changed its mind and Shego was allowed to live for a fourth season.
