When they find bodies in the North sea.... spoiler

What was John going to say, when they find Orla's body

reply

I think he was saying that when they find bodies, they need to be careful examining it because sometimes creepy crawlies from the deep come up burrowed in the body. Now this is purely speculation on my part, as I literally have no idea what they do with bodies dredged up from any sea, but the way he was looking at the body and such makes it seem like a good theory. Yeah?

My guess is he was going to refer to slime eels. They're like horror movie monsters, but they're real, and have been known to burrow inside a floating human body and start dining on the buffet that is your internal organs. Truly disgusting creatures -- even marine biologists find them horrifying.

I am a marine biologist and I find them cuddly.

Then I admire your attitude. I'm ashamed of my own squeamishness; it's visceral rather than intellectual. As a boy I seriously considered going into entomology, but ran into a wall with centipedes. Their front legs evolved into venom fangs. Jesus wept.

I've never heard of Hagfish referred to as slime eels, but I can see where one would call them slime eels (although, technically they aren't eels). I've never understood how people can eat them since they look gross. Anyway, thanks for your post because I learned something new today! : )
