Best Poker movie
My personal favorite is Rounders... Damon and Norton were perfect in their rolls.
shareMy personal favorite is Rounders... Damon and Norton were perfect in their rolls.
shareNot only is it the best poker movie, it's the only good poker movie (at least the only good one solely about poker players).
shareThis movie is a cliche, been made 100 times, the lead actor is awful, Burt can't save it, the soundtrack is awful, and everything is worn-out, been done, and Hollywood, please note: Stop making the same movies, and stop making sequels too. Especially, stop making poker movies, there's one hand that wins everything, and we know that all the good players can spot all the rookie tells.

shareRounders was the best i agree
shareROUNDERS !!!!
best poker movie ever, man
come on!
Rounders or High Roller The Stu Ungar story..
shareHigh Roller was terrible...
shareNo it wasn't you retard...
shareHigh Roller was like... horrible.
shareI don't wish to insult anyone but man what are you guys like 15yrs old. The best poker movie ever and you don't include one of the originals...The Cincinnati Kid with Steve McQueen, Edward G. Robinson, Ann-Margret, Karl Malden, Tuesday Weld and Rip Torn, just to name a few!!!
Watch this movie and then come back here and rethink your opinion!
He makes a good point... as Rounders is my favorite poker flick.. the CIncinnati Kid comes in microscopicly at 2nd place. Both are really well and after ive seen them both probably 10-15 times.. i fast forward to the big poker game in "Kid" while i'll normally watch all of Rounders.
shareMaybe not the best but a pretty good one is "A Big Hand For The Little Lady" Henry Fonda and JoAnne Woodward.
shareI have friends who play real poker (not the games in someone's kitchen where people always forget whose turn it is), and they like Rounders but recognize that it has some inaccuracies.
The Cincinnati Kid, while it has strong directing and acting, is the most overrated poker movie ever, because the poker part is completely ridiculous. Raising/bluffing on the come in no limit 5-card stud--from 3rd street on--is absolutely stupid. It had to be a cheating hand, where the cheaters are insanely bold to try it, AND the victim must be a pathetic donkey to allow this to happen.
I dare anyone with real poker experience to refute this take on The Cincinatti Kid. Better yet, I challenge any CK fanboys to settle this with a heads-up game (limit or no limit, your choice). Loser gets whacked in the nuts, then makes a sincere public apology on IMDb.com.
Im not a fan but Id still challenge you to a heads-up battle, just so you get hit in the nuts! lol hahaha
You can bluff at any time during the game, thats part of it.
Rounders is the only good poker movie out there... and thats a fact
It not only is a great poker movie, but it itself is a great movie...
Great acting, great characters/development, great casting and a good storyline
"rounders" is the best movie and probably the most accurate. "maverick" is a pretty damn good movie, but the poker scenes are poorly executed, especially the final hand. "high roller" is a pretty lousy movie all around and this is coming from a huge fan of "the kid".....
were creatures of the underworld, satine. we cant afford to love.

Rounders is a good movie but it is a pretty terrible movie from a poker standpoint. The majority of the poker scenes in it are just ridiculous.
shareThe fact is that there is no really good poker movie out there. I mean i love Rounders, great intertainment, but as stated above me the poker is just ridiculous. I dont think there is ever going to be a good poker movie, the market is just not big enough.
Though i do love Rounders and Cincinatti Kid.
And nobody even mentioned Casino Royal, the poker is beyond ridiculous but still a decent movie even with craig as bond
There's also The Grand.
