Will the truth ever be un-dug?

I'm still a bit confused by the whole situation. That Josh got an offer from another network is clear -- he jumped ship to go to the Discovery Channel. But if this show was the hit for History Channel that it was always touted as being, why couldn't they fight to keep him? And why, even after he left, was the third season of Josh-hosted shows left in limbo, never being released as a set like the previous two seasons? And why hasn't this show been repeated on the History Channel or other related network channels, again if it was so highly rated? This whole thing smacks of something much more than a simple network jump. Someone didn't like someone. Whether it was Josh withholding consent for repeats and the third season DVD set (I doubt his contracts would have given him that much authority) or someone on the History Channel deciding to stick it to Josh by not letting him get royalties from any more DVD sets and repeats (which I think is more likely), it seems there is a truth here that is still being buried. Given the title of this show and the theme of the idea of digging for the truth, I'd like for someone to dig and give us the real dirt.

Also, I'd like the third season as a DVD set. Even more than half a decade later, I'm aware of that gap on my shelf among my DVDs. I'd even like the rump of a fourth season with Hunter Ellis; however, I'm not going to pay upwards of $500 for what should be a couple of $30 sets.
