Narrator?

I had the DVD copy and was disappointed to hear an American (or possibly Canadian) woman's voice replace that of the same voice that did Nazis: A Warning from History. Given the documentary was British, why on earth would they need to change the host's voice for an inferior one simply to make it sound like an American?

I don't know....but the narrator has the most annoying voice and accent!

I've got it on DVD and its a male narrator with a British accent.

The narrator is Oscar winning actress Linda Hunt she is good but I would have preferred the original. I don't know why they replace the narrator, because I love Weaver but I would have liked to have had the original Sir David Attenborough for Planet Earth too! It's stupid that they have to Americanize it, especially in this Global economy and world. Whoever does that just needs to get over it, Accents are Accents who cares! I like Accents & that should have no bearing on a program, it's a waste of money to pay for more than one person to narrate the same thing.

I wouldn't have minded the original narration, but perhaps they want as many people to see the film as possible, and Linda Hunt has won an Oscar, anyway.

I thought her delivery style was good, myself.

the original narrator was samuel west, a fantastic speaker witha great voice. he also narrated 'nazis a warning from history' and a few other documentaries. why they'd want to replace him with linda hunt is typical of american dumbing down tv narration

The thing that really bothers me about the narration by Linda Hunt is that her voice is too loud compared to the rest of the other voices. I guess whoever made this or changed the narrative didn't know anything about using audio compression to flatten things out? I haven't heard the original male narrator, perhaps they replaced it because they thought his accent was too thick for American/Canadian audiences? I usually don't have any trouble with British accents but every so often I'll come across one that is hard for me to make out.
