Looking forward to this + Trailer link

Anyone going to see this movie at the Stockholm Film Festival? I am, and I'm really looking forward to it. This looks like something completely new coming out of the Swedish film industrty: A dark and surreal action thriller with lots of special effects!

Saw it at a... secret showing ;)
Not bad. Certainly not bad. The first "Hollywood" movie made in Sweden. Not necessarily a good thing, since most Hollywood movies are *beep* but this one was kinda cool. The cast was brilliant (especially the lead and the bad guy), and the story was cool. Cinematography was really boring though. Felt like any half assed comic book movie. Fightscenes were really bad too. Sure, they weren't going for the "Kung Fu" style of The Matrix (at least not according to one of the directors, whom I spoke with after the showing, even though some moves made me doubt that), but it was horribly shot and edited. Yuck!

The best part of this movie, the part that makes me love it, is the fact that it was made. It proves that it IS possible to make other movies in Sweden than cop-thrillers and teen-movies. As an aspiring filmmaker, that's really good news, cos I fu cking hate the mainstream *beep* that is put out by Svenska Filminstitutet. Same crap over and over again. This is without a doubt a breath of fresh air. Let's all hope it will become a success so that those fat old men who decides which scripts will be getting money that thinking outside of the fu cking box is a good thing!

BTW, one gotta love the first Swedish movie that uses the Wilhelm-scream ;)

What is the Wilhelm-scream?

The Wilhelm scream is a sound-effect that has come to be a classic element in movies. I think it was first issued in The Star Wars trilogy, since then it has been heard in thousands of movies, from Reservoir dogs to Toy Story. Kind of a tribute, or a humerous secret signal between soundeditors.

The Wilhelm scream is WAY older than the Star Wars movies.

...originated in DISTANT DRUMS (1951).
