Females in the movie unsympathetic...

While I can see why so many would like this movie, to me it was repulsive. Reason being neither the daughter nor mother are sympathetic characters - both infantile, daughter - a junky/sl*t, the young western culture of mindless drugs and sex passed off as "the rather usual contemporary youth us, parents, don't know about"... Anyone else thought along the lines?

I didn't find the daughter sympathetic in the slightest. I don't think she was meant to be. Just a horrible, miserable, b*tch. An example of an unfortunate byproduct of America today. Not everyone by any means, but a large enough majority that it leaves a huge stain on the perception of the rest of the world.
