It's a fricken action movie not a documentary. If you want to see people recovering from bullet wounds, go down to the hospital.
This is a gun-fu movie, meant to provide entertainment, not thought provoking political messages. Infernal Affairs is a plot driven character drama. Dragon Squad is an explosive and frantic action movie. Infernal Affairs you watch to see how smart the plot unfolds and how well the actors perform. Dragon Squad you watch to see how the action director set up the shootouts and how the editor presented the final product. Acting and story comes in at 4-th or 5-th place as long as the action delivers... and it does... if your attention span is longer than 50 seconds...
This is HK action at its best. A very basic story and a lot of action, little room for character exposition, as it is a moot point in any action movie and a lot of well choregraphed gun-fu action scenes, strewn throughout.
American action movies always drag along as they feel the obsessive compulsive need to show a story along the action. When will they understand, that action movie fans need action not a long and ridiculous story. 99% of all action movies have ridiculous stories and what makes them suck is that they allow too much time for it. This is where Dragon Squad exceeds, it has a bad story, just like 99% of all movies (and especially action movies) has but it shows only what is needed then delivers the solid action.
