Great Series 8 Years Later

I was so sad to see Over There end after season one, so I purchased the DVD's. I haven't watched it in a few years so I re-watched it over again this weekend and I still love it.

I truly think Over There failed because it took place while the war was raging, which is something the director prided himself on. I think with all of the news coverage, it was just burnout on the show.

It reminds me of the series Tour of Duty from the 80s that followed a Platoon in Vietnam. From what I can remember it was very successful, but could Tour of Duty have been successful during the Vietnam War? More than likely not. I'm sure that would have been cancelled after season one as well.

I enjoyed this show and I did care about the characters. Season two definitely could have happened as it could have gone more indepth into each character and their background. I want to know what would happen with Dim and Vanessa. Would Mrs. B actually make a turn around? Would Double Wide actually get the guts to take charge in those situations? With enough hard work, could Bo have made it back? What was up with the Sarge's background?

Some have argued that not everything was accurate...Well, if you want 100% accuracy, go pick up an actual book from someone there. This is a tv show, and first and foremost, it's for entertainment. As for any political leanings, I have my own, but I felt it was politically neutral. It was how each character related to their situation in terms of morals.

I absolutely think this show had great potential, but it was made during the wrong time, and that is truly ashame.
