Why is all but two characters a private?
Seriously, privates only make up like 1/8th of the Army's enlisted ranks. Who are the team leaders? Are they privates too? Where's the spec-4s and sergeants at?
shareit was explained in the pilot that almost the entire group were fresh out of boot.
it takes upwards of a few years to climb the ranks. sgt.scream was explained to have been in for around 9 years. and he was only a sgt. although there are some people...a$$kissers and such that have been able to climb the ranks quickly.

can anybody explain the ranking structure of the us infantry to me? im more then familier with the UK one, but never having wokred with the US forces it leaves me a bit baffled, usually they have Sgts as squad leaders in the uk this would be a section IC typically a Cpl....

I'm in the US Army myself and I was wondering why everyone was a PVT or a PFC.....especially how old they all looked too!!
Most units I've been in and know, theres more Specialists (E-4s) and Sergeants (E-5)...and Sgt. Scream had the fury of a damn platoon sergeant and looked like he would have fit the rank of an E-6 (Staff Sergeant)...hell especially him being Ranger qualified and *beep*
Yes as I know that they were fresh out of OSUT and AIT but most of them should have been at least PFC's and Specialists!....some of them were BUCK privates and thats kinda hard to find for someone who hasn't gotten Article 15ed or anything..because you get automatcily promoted after a few months of being in so yeh they should have been at least PV2s, PFCs or SPCs...
...if they wanted Pvts to play a part they should have had a younger looking cast... most of them look like they've in the army for a min....like they should've been E-4s and E-5s.
but don't get me wrong I love this show! I wish they would bring it back on the air.....if they do..this time we'll see them in the ACUs!

I do agree though, they should have had younger guys portraying the soldiers, not because of rank but because of age. Angel only turning 21? Mrs. B said she was 18?? I don't know why they didn't bump up the ages a few years. Dim should have been a specialist because he graduated from college, but did not want to be an officer.
