Where are the rest of the Squad/platoon?

I am a Sgt. in the Norwegian Army,we are a founding member of NATO,currently part of the ISAF force in Afghanistan.(OEF)

What I am wondering ,where is the rest of the squad?(this is a fire team)or platoon or Company for that matter..In real life they would have MUCH more interactions with them..only an observation, but its a good show..

Howdy sport, glad to see you. You need to explain which episode you are asking about. The show centers around a US Army squad, which is about thirteen men, and a few supporting troops. You occasionally see the platoon leader (three squads in a platoon), company commander (3-4 platoons in a company), and battalion commander (3-4 companies in a battalion). You don't see all of these other soldiers on screen, but you hear about them in the radio chatter. The show tries very hard to remain realistic without about a thousand extras. Have a great day!

Movies and TV shows will often isolate military units in order to minimize the number of characters. The problem with big ensemble casts is that it's hard for the audience to connect with the characters. I think they could have at least *shown* the rest of the company as extras, but the choice to keep the number of characters present to a minimum was to establish relationships with the audience.

That, or it was just because the writing was terrible and the show stupid. One of the two. Either are possible. ;)
