I was in utter disbelief throughout most of this movie

Prior to watching it I thought it was going to be a bit like the "Robin Hood Hills murders", you know, slanted in the convict's favor but still not obvious proof for any side... I didn't know the outcome as I was not familiar with this case. And yes, this film was clearly biased in Darryl Hunt's favor... but it also happened to be biased in favor of REALITY. Because looking at the so called evidence they had and seeing how many evidence in favor of DH they chose to ignore... I just couldn't believe this. Words cannot describe how appalled I was at this blatant evil injustice. To ignore the fact that none of the sperm or pubic hair found on Sykes matched DH, to LIE to the defense and tell them the DNA was too degraded to use in a DNA test, to withhold information, intimidate witnesses, use an all-white jury, call Klans-men to testify against him etc, etc... it just never seemed to end.
It irks me that the prosecutors involved are still working as attorneys and not being held accountable.

But what hurts the most if to think that this man lost 19 years of his life. No amount of money can ever make up for that. It is amazing to me to see what kind of man he was after all... I honestly don't think I'd have it in me to be so forgiving. I'd be so angry and bitter at the world. At least I think I would be.

This really is an unbelievable story.
I read someone else on this board who made a case for why stories like this are a strong argument against the death penalty. I agree whole-heartedly. All I can say is THANK GOD Darryl Hunt wasn't sentenced to death.

Yes. It was disgusting.

The one heartening thing is it's mentioned in the film by someone that there WERE a few members of the corrupt local police department who advised the attorney and the activist (?) off the record to dig deeper...that there was more going on under the surface.

Certainly doesn't make you want to live in the south, though! Very very scary...
