Play It Straight?

How would this DVD play to a straight audience? I try to find good gay/straight crossover titles for the video store I manage.

It's a well played Mystery with pretty good suspense. It's not more offensive than Brokeback as far as sex scenes and things of that nature. Chad Allen has drawing power.

I think the main problem preventing films like "Third Man Out" being shown on mainstream television is the nervousness of the networks.

You can guarantee there would be a huge outcry from "family" groups and given the increasing pressure on networks from the FCC and the Bush administration over "decency" (what ever that is!!!!) I cannot see it happening. (There have even been suggestions that cable comply with the same rules on "decency"!)

But having said that, straight friends of mine enjoyed both the plot and the interplay between Donald and Tommy....and the smart dialogue.

And, by the way, I saw this film (and Shock to the System) on DVD as neither have been shown here in Australia on cable or network television.

It reminds me of old school dectective shows like Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis Murder, and Matlock. I feel minus the butt shots and such, it could fit on network tv.

My mother liked it, but I did have to endure her endless "so who is he", "why is that happening" and "why can't you find a guy like timmy" questions

One more drink and I'll be under the table, 2 more and I'll be under the host

This is a really good little, with a great sense of humour and intriuging storyline. I think any audience would like it, it's just a shame that it hasnt got a wider release.

I'm straight, and I love this series of films. For me, the main appeal is the love and devotion between Donald and Timmy.
