What do you think the 'Malefactors' are?

What do you think the Malefactors are and where do you think they came from. In both games (as far as I can tell) it never explains what they are or where they came from.

Do what do you think? I have a few possibly theories.

1.) They are the physical form of human evil and Suffering. Human evil and suffering builds up over time and when tipped over, explodes, into a pyhiscal form or opens the door to hell. Carnate and Baltimore was where alot of evil happend, when Torque arrives to both places he "Tips the scale".

2.) Demons from hell, it would explain why they come out of the
ground out of fire engulfed holes.

3.) It is all in peoples minds. I say this because if you read Dr.killjoy's
diagnosis near the end of the first suffering it said Torques "Monster form" is all in his head. He never turns into a monster, instead he has alot of rage and adrenaline and the mosnter is just a way for his mind to cope with the evil he does whhile in this stage. Also, Blackmore was all in Torques mind, But he seemed to be able to some extent be seen by Dr.killjoy (my opinion anyways) and Blackmore can seem to control the malefactors. Also they can defy the Laws of reality, meaning they are not real. One of the Black inmates you choose to save in the first suffering, the one with the dynamite, thinks the guards drugged everyone with a hallucination drug and the monsters are just the guards on a killing rampage. Mabye he is somewhat right. That everyone is just on a killing spree of one another and the whole monster thing is just a way for their minds to cope with it.

Known facts - They have been stalking Torque long before Carnate island.
- they, or just the slayers, burst into flames from a strong light
-Dr.Killjoy is deeply tied with them, in the first game they say he just went missing, he also had that strange machine in his house that that gave off the purple aura that helped Torque be cured and defeat the end boss.

Thats all I can think of now, If you have any other theories or comments please share them.

The Creatures have been stalking Torque years before he met Dr.Killjoy (5 years at least). Plus the "Foundation" has been dealing with them before Carnate. So although Dr.Killjoy may have played some part in their creation/resurrection, There is a much larger picture that is not totally in focus yet.
