The Suffering 3?

Does anyone have any ideas for the next Suffering game, if there is to be one? Speculation is welcome.

Well.. some people have been wondering if Torque will be in the third Suffering game.. if one is ever made..although depending on the endings in ' The Suffering - Ties that bind' it might suggest that his story has already been told.

Although if it does have Torque.. then it might be something where you find out even more about his past.. and I'm about to give a slight mini-spoiler here..so be warned.

Supposedly.. at some point in ' Ties that bind' ..Killjoy tells Torque that he knew Torque's mother.

What that has got to do with anything, and why Killjoy brought that up, I have no idea.. but it is interesting considering the fact that Killjoy has supposedly been dead for years O.o;

Or we might take control of someone else completely different.. although a rumour about the 3rd Suffering game ( and I heard this from a friend of mine, who in turn had heard it from someone else..so I don't know how accurate it is) said that one of the well-known characters wouldn't be in the game.

In this case.. the people who are most well-known and are in 'both' games..have been Torque, Carmen, Killjoy, Ranse Trueman, Corey and Malcolm.

I remember one of the game's creators saying that they had brought back Carmen in Ties that bind because she was a strong character and she needs to be there for Torque.. as does Killjoy.... but that automatically kills the theory of the 3rd game ( if ever made) being about someone else, since why would Killjoy and Carmen appear to someone else?

Ranse needs to be there too.. being the famous guy who writes those musings of his..and he seems to know a lot about the situation.

Corey and Malcolm.. well they are Torque's boys.. and he also needs them for guidance just as much as he needs Carmen.

And I'm pretty sure I'm starting to ramble now.. so I'll just say that the 3rd game would either be.. about Torque and a further look into his past..

Or.. you play as someone else, but the game is set in the past and is based on the first malefactor sighting ( a document in Ties that bind mentions it being in 1964, exactly 10 years before Torque himself was born) and it actually leads up to the birth of ' The Suffering's' protogonist ( erm..well..that depends on morality ^^; ) and in turn we would ultimatly find out why Torque is the way he is?

Sorry if I've gone on for a bit too much, but these are just my theories ^^;

They could do a new character, Killjoy could be the guiding hand of sorts for the chacracter, he takes interest in their mental issues and helps untie any knots. One neat idea I had for a sequel would be to base some of the creatures and horrors more on urban legends, tall tales and mysteries, that'd open a plethora of new stories. The sequel story in mind could be a Paranormal Investigator checking out a place (Abandoned house, Campsite, whatever) who has some foggy memories of his past, but as you play and make moral choices he learns he did some bad things or good things. But Midway should really play it up with the endings, since Ties that Bind technically has only 3 endings, but good and bad have extentions that only happen if you do the necessary things.
I think Torque is done for, unless if you were to just see how his life was through adolesnce and early adulthood. That's the only way, since it'd pretty stupid to repeat the whole dead family crime reminder game again.
But I really hope Midway takes the oppurtunity to really make a cool franchise. I will say this, I think we may have seen the last of the Slayers, Mainliners, Burrowers and Marksmen. But they could pull off some new interpretations of some of the classics.

We'll just have to wait to and see.

I agree with the character, but the Slayers, Mainliners, Burrowers and Marksmen still remain in the series as long if new creatures are introduce. Plus people were dissapointed how some of the ending turned out and how short the game was some way. The stories should be more longer (two dise game). This chapter some that Torque would put his demon problem to an end and the final chapter to the trilogy how well it made. Because of the that it may name the chapter
"Farewell to the Flesh".

Lets find out.

A third game would be complete overkill. They were pushing it with Ties That Bind. I hope it never happens.

when the suffering 1 finished it ended in such a way that no one could see how they could make a sequel for it. blackmore is only mentioned once in the entire game at the very end. yet surreal made a sequel that was even bigger than the original.
and the sequel finished in such a way that it doesnt look like there could be a third. but the fact that it seemed like that the first time and people where proven wrong would indicate to anyone with an ounce of intelligence that just because we cant SEE how something could be done, does not mean it cannot be done, and done in a good way.

if they do a third it has to be about torque. at the very least they could make the main story be the creatures and the "evil" power that is causing all this to happen, what the apparitions are and their relationship to the creatures, whether the apparitions are actual ghosts or just manifestations of their evil, and why is all this centered around torque

You Dare Agree With Me?!

I'd be surprised if a third was made considering the financial trouble Midway has been going through, but I sure would like them too though

back in 98 I did a titty comedy for Skinemax. Sex Camp, ya remember it?

They haven't even done the backward compatibility for Ties that Bind on Xbox 360 yet so can't see them making The Suffering 3 somehow.....

Midway is dead, so no Suffering 3, ever

The Suffering is one of my favorite games of all time, so I would love to play part 3. But Surreal Software is finished and all the original crew of the game are working at different places. The writer of the game is at Crystal Dynamics now.

to be fair, I really don't know what they could have actually done for a Suffering 3, they had monsters in a prison and then monsters in a city, what more really could they do where it would still feel fresh?

I think Ties That Bind probably took The Suffering as far as it could go, not every game needs a million sequels
