was it all real?

The whole comics/game type exaggerated fights were real or just in Scott's imagination?

reply

Yes it was all real. When you punch someone or kick someone in the head really hard they usually burst into coins.

No of course it wasn't supposed to be real. It's an adaptation of a graphic novel so just think of it like a live action cartoon with stylised action and violence. Use your own imagination, suspend your disbelief, you'll enjoy it better.

I think it's all a metaphor for the struggles of meeting girls, pursuing girls and dating girls when you're a young man. It feels more dramatic and crazy than, with hindsight, it is.

No he wasn't a kung-fu master, no her exes weren't evil and no one burst into coins, that was just how mad and dramatic it all felt to him.

That's what I think anyway.

I have to disagree with you here. It was supposed to be real in it's own universe. It was not meant to be 'realistic' to our real world, but it was 'real' in it's own world. The same way that Jedi's use 'The Force' in Star Wars, it is real in the Star Wars universe.

In the 'Scott Pilgrim' world, this is how people fight and how things happen in that world.

reply

Yes. The film is based on a true story.
