The Eternal Question with this Movie will Always be

Why Scott would choose Ramona over Knives. It's an endless question without an answer even to this day.

If you payed attention Scott was in love with Ramona and not Knives it was the most easy thing to answer

Why Scott would choose Ramona over Knives.
He chooses Knives in an alternate ending. To me, it's more fitting.

Knives would had been a better choice for Scott, but Scott wouldn't had been a better choice for Knives.

In the end, I saw it that Scott and Ramona were a good pairing for each other... at that time. I don't believe they'll have a long term relationship, but for the time being, I think they need each other as they sort through their respective "transition" phases.

Yeah, I felt let down my initial viewing... Knives gave her all for Scott, alas he took her for granted.
Then you realize she's 17 & he's 22... age gap is magnified the younger you go, not to mention 22yr old's pov will be more evaluative if you will than a 17yr old's lust.

Ramona on the other hand, should've appreciated Scott more. Sure they weren't a perfect match, & yet they were oddly enough because of that very reason. Both loners, shared interests & outlooks on life, etc.

The ideal ending for the movie (not the books) would've all 3 gone their separate ways respectively. Ramona looked like she was nowhere near wanting any relationship with anyone, Scott looked exhausted, & Knives deserved better than a guy she pedestal'd.

That's the problem - She's 17 years old. Her brain wasn't really fully developed at that point. I think she was merely infatuated with the guy since he was in a band. The "love" for him would've worn off after a while. Ever hear of fans getting hitched to rock stars? That story never ends well.

Scott and Ramona deserve each other. They're both miserable and need each other's company.

Not sure about Canada where the story is set, but in Europe it's not uncommon for a 17 year old girl to date a 22 year old guy, in the US - in many States - it's statutory rape.
