Hypocrite racist movie

This movie would have never been made if it was the other way around because it would be racist and would show the Indians in a bad light how they where not

now, this is what they are doing with the Noble Vikings.

Viking isn't a race.
You know that, right?
Neither is Icelandic, Swedish or Norwegian.
Racist is THE most over-used word on IMDB, and 90% of the people using it don't even know what it means.

I mean the OP that said the movie is racist because of the way the movie portrays Vikings...

Did you just say Swedish wasn't a race?

"And if he didn't, who did? And where the hell was I?"

Jenners!

Did you just say Swedish wasn't a race?

That's right.

Swedish is two things, neither of which is a race.
Swedish is a language. And Swedish is a derivative of Swede which is a nationality.

Do you believe something different?

You should check your facts before you pretend to know better than someone else. The Oxford Dictionary definition of race is : 1. Group of persons or animals or plants connected by common descent; house, family, tribe or nation regarded as of common stock...

It goes on to describe what YOU think race means, but you are proven wrong there. Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, Germans, French, you name it - they can all be regarded as races.

Now back in your box.

I'm Norwegian and didn't get offended by this POS movie, but was annoyed that Hollywood crap never even TRY to get things right when dealing with Vikings and such.

reply

In rougestout's defense, his definition of race fits more with the topic of "racism". The one you chose doesn't apply since we don't use racism as a term against plants, animals, or families. Norwegians are not a race unless you're saying Swedes can be racist towards Norwegians.

And yes, "racism" is the most overused and misused word on IMDB.

The Norsemen or 'Vikings' were & are a distinct race of peoples.

The theory goes that when Homo Sapiens first left Africa after the last Ice Age & moved into Europe they encountered the Neanderthals , who contrary to old theory were extremely intelligent & strong , but not as social , so fell easy prey to the invading hordes. A lot of inbreeding took place - probably as a way of raising hybrid warriors to fight the sturdy Neanderthals. This tradition continued until very recently in Scandinavia - strong sons being mated with strong women to produce warriors. The Northern European people are the least 'watered down' Neanderthal/Homo Sapiens hybrids to this day , but not as obviously Neanderthal as back in the days of the Vikings - the evidence is both in the genetic record & the skeletal remains of mass viking graves in Britain. Look at the bones & tell me i'm wrong !

That which does not Kill me makes me Stranger . . .

The OP's point is moot. If you want to see a film that is the reversal of Pathfinder, you need look no further than the silly Lee Majors 70s film entitled The Norseman: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078007/

The Native Americans are depicted as pure savage evil.

Oh, and one of the best, most ridiculous anachronisms in the film was the black Norseman played by football player Deacon Jones. When I saw him in the film, my reaction was "Huh?" Then again, the film was made in Florida.

OTOH, while watching Pathfinder, which I did enjoy, I couldn't help wondering how the Kurgan made it into this film. There were a lot of beheadings but no apparent Quickening. What gives? LOL

reply

C'mon now. No stone throwing. The Norseman was a damn good film. It made for a great Saturday afternoon....when I was 8. You can't beat the bionic man in a horned helmet.

Yeah, and I was kind disappointed about the lack of quickenings too.

Noble Vikings?

I don't know the historys pretty savage to what they did to my ancestors in England and Ireland.

I think he means that many of the people who lived in England and Ireland during the landing of Viking Traders didn't have a long and pleasant life, especially those in close proximity to anything of value.

Secrets aren't my concern. . . Keeping them is.

People should really stop throwing around the frase "racist" around for no reason!

I am from Denmark, the country where must of the vikings came from, and it does not offend me at all!

Where are you from America?

Don't you think there have been a couple of movies where the indians have been savage people???

OD,

Blame Hollyweird and specifically the 'Universalists' who own it.

The spirit of a attack, born in a brave heart is the first thing that any race/nation/society needs to have to survive in a world where everyone is out for their own good.

And the idiots in charge of the MSM have, for worse, decided to cut our people's hamstrings the only way they know how: through their self image.

Vikings were not 'nice' on-raid. But they were successful. Beyond all wildest imaginings in places like Northern Germany and France.

And that sense of warrior excellence matters more than the morality of their actions in terms of achievement.
