Right up there with Rudy

I'm amazed that there is no thread with just praise for this flick. Classic feel good. What a great underdog prevails story.

Should it have gotten an Oscar....of course not, but it doesn't try to be that movie. Just makes you feel good, with some top-notch cinematography to boot.

I agree

As do I. Explains why it sits on my wall.

Could not agree more - I find it a very inpiring movie even if it's not really true.

Ahhh....don't break the fantasy of it for me.

It's an ok movie, playing a little loose with the actual story. Papale was a good athlete (pole vaulter)in college. He also played for two seasons in the WFL. It wasn't an open tryout, but a private workout with Vermil. And Papale was 6'2"' not 5'8". lol

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

But Wahlberg looked the part on camera, isn't that what really matters?

reply

It was a joke, son. And I'm quite able to suspend disbelief. After all, I had no problem with a 5'9" heavyweight boxing champion or a 5'6" super spy kicking butt on impossible missions.

lol....at least one of those is fact, and will take note of Mike Tyson's height.
