Ridicules story - Excellent cast
As a brand actor, John Malkovich was brilliant as always, the rest of cast is excellent. I don't know about book, movie story is completely irrational.
• Professor - gorgeous student relationship, she accepts and then complaints around???
• His daughter in the middle of nowhere in nowadays South Africa, doing what - mainly gardening flowers???
• She has pack of dogs and keeps them disabled, locked in cages???
• She wanders around casually while rifle remains for decoration in the shack???
• Her moronic attitude signals something like - no problem Black scum, you can rape me as many times as you want, I ain't going anywhere
• Professor addicted to hot young beauty, easily switches to totally opposite???
Lucy does not represent retarded character or one dumped from mental institution, still her reaction remain irrational. Maybe book is more clear on that.
Leaving in such place requires reinforced concrete fortress on the hill, surrounded by layers of concertino wire and electronic surveillance paired with auto responding weapon systems. Outdoor recommendations are Up-armored SUV, Automatic Weapons and Ballistic Vest. Some Hand Grenades wouldn't hurt when wandering in SA wilderness.
In reference to eventual symbolism expressed thru Lucy character, Apartheid was imbecilic and not something that Whites could be proud. Anyway, completely surrendering modern state and own destiny to hostile Black tribal majority was moronic act. Wasn't Zimbabwe a remarkable warning? According to circumstances, I fear Whites have three options only:
1. Remain alerted and fully armed in clusters of fortresses
2. Divide country on two strictly separate entities or cantons
3. Emigrate wherever they can or perish gradually in Black Apartheid
Movie also provokes another analogy of SA Apartheid vs. to-days "Global Rich Apartheid", thru daily practice, instead of legislature. When Non-rich Whites request fair share and treatment from their governments, it is not big deal if they get riot police on heads, similar as Blacks did in late SA Apartheid. Non-rich Whites cannot go on places for Rich-Whites. Instead of laws, on their way are equivalent obstacles, Money and Security Guards. When Blacks are deprived, it is racism, so what is the opposite, where are all those global opponents of White SA Apartheid now?
