I've seen this movie before, but only after a rewatch I realized the Van Waldenbergs were not husband-wife and neither simply partners, but brother and sister. And their over-the-top kiss at the end was certainly not one between siblings, so yeah. Although they were never mentioned having that sort of relationship.

It was hinted at pretty strongly throughout the movie, which made the ridiculous kiss at the end the final cathartic release.

They were referred to as brother and sister many times during the movie. The kiss at the end was just a topper on how incredibly weird they were.
