Ok, so I just finished watching this and...

I'm not a fan. It wasn't bad. I just didn't enjoy it that much. That being said, I've never listened to The Beatles. So what I want to know is if being a fan of the Beatles made you enjoy the film more?

reply

I also just finished watching. The Beatles are my favorite band, and I actually think that because of this I didn't enjoy the film. To me, no one else can perform those songs right but The Beatles... That's just my opinion.
Plus, the way they put the songs in was really cheesy.

oh dear what the heck was that?!!! i just finished watching it, i persevered coz i hate not seen all a film but many times i wanted to take it off, sure didnt miss it when it came out!
i thought this was a love story, but it was for the better part a psychedelic trip on some raw mushroom, wow, many times during certain scenes i was wondering are they high and out of it on some couch in a dirty basement hallucinating all this?
one or two songs i recognized as beatles songs, i'm not a fan ,but not because i hate their music just not my time and we didnt click, but even i know they have written many classics that are truly great, like "imagine" "yesterday" don't really know them by name!
still the 60's are way too out there for me, and i'm always trying to keep an open mind on many subjects, i can't imagine what it must have been like growing up back then as a child ,as a teen or a student, crazy!
but seriously the romance was blah didnt get the chemistry between the leads,blech...what i do love was the scenery from liverpool, the lighthouse, the beach...(beside the point but i love love england, beautiful place)

"Imagine" is song by John Lennon, not by The Beatles. Just had to point that out

It reminded me of RENT and introduced me to the Beets (whose music I had never heard before, but now love more than the movie)...for whatever that's worth

That is exactly what I was thinking when I read the comment! And now I have that song stuck in my head..

Well I've been a hard core fan of the Beatles in the early 2000s. I'm still a fan of theirs but not so much. I thought it was a beautiful film but it is too long :S

I'm a lifelong Beatles fan. My initial reaction was to hate it, but the film won me over.
