Point is this should have been the story being followed. Instead of bs story lines like Ronda getting revenge on Bethe for making fun of her fathers suicide. Cody went through some real life Rocky sh!t.

This. Cody is a talker, just a *beep* one. Nice moment he had with the kid though. I think it would have been less special if UFC tried to sell a sad story about the kid inspiring Cody to build for the title fight.

I still think TJ beats him hence why his coach wants a Cruz rematch over TJ

Cody does seem like a talker but it was a good story. I think the main story was that he was yet another Alpha Male guy fighting Cruz. The teachers have failed but the student succeeded. Alpha Male has one more enemy(TJ) they want to get at.

I think Cruz under estimated Cody's stand up. Yeah, he comes from a camp that traditionally focused on wrestlers, but his background is boxing. He's been boxing since he was a kid and was an amateur boxer. I honestly think Cruz thought his normal skill set would work. When he saw it was not he tried his wrestling, but Cody has a really good wrestling base that he's able to bring into and build onto his striking game.

I'm actually excited to see Cody and TJ. I think that will be a more interesting fight. It will show more about both fighters and I feel TJ has gotten better since he fought Cruz. TJ won't get the nod unless Cruz is hurt because of his "union" activities.

there are plenty of other stories just as good and even better, but Due to your dislike of the fighter/fighters you want to elevate Codys story above them...

Conor winning The LW Belt on The absolute biggest stage possible at MSG to become the first ever simultaneous 2 weight UFC champ...is ever bit as big and as good of story as Cody's

Micheal Bisping having a career defining year where he Finally got a title shot after more than 8 years fighting and more than 20 UFC fights and Literally had to take the Title shot on 2 weesks notice just to finally realize his dream of fighting for the title is one hell of a story considering He WON The Belt in a massive upset that Literally Completed and defined his career, Bisping's 2016 is a Fantastic story, Beating Anderson Silva in a fight where he literally got KO'd dead in the 3rd and then he Literally picked himself up and came out and won the 4th round and fight, beating The Champ Rockhold on 2 weeks notice to Win the belt, Defending the belt in his home country against Dan Henderson....just a terrific story

Amanda Nunes having maybe the best year fighting out of anyone in 2016 is an incredible story, she Headlined 2 Massive PPV's where she obliterated the 2 biggest and Most well Know Female fighters in the world in Tate and Rousey, Her story is fantastic

Cruz coming back from 3 career threatening Injuries where he only fought once in 4 years to win back the belt he never lost and beat a champion as great as TJ, is incredible!

Hell Nate Diaz's 2016 is as good as anyone's...he literally went from a fighter making 20/20 K a fight...to fighting Conor twice and making close to 15 million between the 2 fights, Nate is now A HUGE star after beating Conor in the first fight and after Their incredible 2nd fight.

Stipe Miocic had an incredible year and an incredible story, He went 3-0 with 3 first round KO's to win The UFC title and become the first Cleveland champion in 50+ years...

Cody's year stacks up against all of these fighters and years, He went from an Unranked fighter to The BW Champ, what he did with the cancer kid was amazing...

but It was Just ONE of the stories of the year...Your only elevating it to "Story of the year" because deep down you believe everyone thinks Conor winning 2 belts is story of the year and that kills you...

Hell tito you even made a thread not too long ago where you admitted "2016 was clearly Conor's year"....of course you made that thread before Cody won...so Immediately after Cody won, you started thinking "Hey wait, I can spin this, I can now start saying Cody is the fighter and story of the year" instead of Conor...

Instead of biasedly saying Cody is Story of the year and making fun of people for talking about Conor and Ronda...

You should be saying "Ya Conor's year was great, but so was Cody's"

The fact that codys team says they want Cruz for a rematch makes me think they're worried about tj. Cruz hurt Cody at some points I think TJ can really test his chin

I don't think Cody is afraid of either of them. Only time Cruz hurt Cody was when JOe and Goldie "thought" he did. Cept for that cut on his eye Cody was virtually untouched. There was a couple times when Joe yelled out Cruz hurt him but it never showed. Cody absolutely hurt Cruz.

Agreed. Cody outworked him the whole fight. Cruz has the better brain for the game though, and if they rematch he'll analyze the fight to the gears and come back more prepared as he's done in the past. I'd just like him to take a fight or two before he gets another shot.

The path these 2 fighters took could NOT be more similar, Hell Cody even now is wanting to immediately jump up in weight and fight Aldo for the 145 belt, Just like Conor did after winning the FW belt, Conor immediately went up to LW to try and win the LW belt after beating Aldo, You b!itched when Conor did it, said that Conor was running and didn't want to defend the belt, but now Cody is tryin to do the samething and your praising him

Literally the only thing that is remotely different about the path Cody and Conor took is......Conor fought better competition, Conor fought 3 ranked opponents and one future champion in Max hollaway and Cody didn't fight any ranked opponents...
