Ronda Rousey vs. Amanda Nunes for UFC 207

Early tap for Ronda
Or early Ko for Nunes

hmmmmm :-/

reply

It could go either way if nunes can keep it standing for the first round she'll win by KO, rousey isn't very good at stand up imo. I'm more interested in what happens after the fight if rousey wins will she finally fight cyborg and if rousey loses will she continue in UFC? I think she will retire.

reply

No way Ronda and Cyborg fight, unfortunately. Cyborg can't make weight at 135. She made a video of herself trying to make a catchweight of 140 for her UFC debut where she was brought to tears because the cut was so extreme and taxing on her body that she just broke down.

Rousey and Cyborg just isn't a feasible fight, despite what we the fans might want, unless Rousey agrees to a catchweight bout, but she has absolutely no reason to do so and the UFC would never put their prized female UFC fighter in a lose/lose position.

reply

A catchweight is perfect. She's got the weight excuse, she's already tasted defeat in MMA, and if she has the belt, she won't be risking losing it. Love how Cyborg has been saying that Candyman stuff. She also said Rousey will need plastic surgery after their fight. Scary sh!t coming from that woman.

reply

Well Cyborg is an idiot, so you're probably right. Rousey has been out of the picture for nearly a year, and Cyborg hasn't done anything to step up to the plate at 135 to take a free belt.

I get it, Cyborg has so much muscle mass she can't make 135. Thankfully god invented atrophy. Six months of refraining from heavy weight lifting and she'd make 130 if she wanted to. If she just dropped 7-8 pounds worth of muscle weight, she'd still look like She-Hulk, would still run through her opponents considering they'd be lighter than what she currently fights, and she'd be making 135 easier than she currently makes 140.

She makes me wanna smack her, but that's kinda sexist, and she'd also kill me.

If you can read this then you are trying too hard.

reply

To her defence she did say she wanted to stay in her weight division eventualy and the only fight that interests herin the division is Ronda. She couldnt go to far down in weight if Ronda was unsure about coming back.

Lol, what weight division. You mean that division where 135'ers put on ten pounds to fight her?

Well......yeah.

Please explain to me again how McGregor, who walks around at 170, can't possibly make 145 ever again (according to you) but Cyborg, who also walks around at 170, can somehow make 135 (according to you)?

reply

I think people underestimate how difficult it is to lose muscle mass... I don't know how anyone who watched her document her last cut to 140 could reasonably ask her to cut to 135. It was awful and more importantly, dangerous.

That said, she beefed herself up (illegally), and put herself in this position. Stop calling out women in smaller divisions and be thankful the UFC even allows you on their cards to main event in a fcckin catch weight fight.

I completely agree. Not only that, I wish the sport of MMA encouraged more fighters to fight close to their true weight.

That said, she beefed herself up (illegally), and put herself in this position.

I see what you are saying, but most pro sports turn a blind eye to PED's. And organizations like Pride practically encouraged it. Most MMA athletes say up to 90% of fighters use PED's, although since the UFC brought in USADA, that might have went down.

Stop calling out women in smaller divisions

Cyborg has been wanting to fight Ronda back when they were in the same weight division, so she's only been doing that since Ronda went down one division.

and be thankful the UFC even allows you on their cards to main event in a fcckin catch weight fight.

I wouldn't be too thankful, the UFC is literally ignoring her star potential in favor of Ronda, and literally doing so because they know Cyborg will wreck her star power, past and future.

reply

The thing is that no one's making her fight for the UFC, obviously. I dunno what she made for her last couple fights, but she was getting paid out by Invicta. Like 100k while no one else was clearing 10k. She knows where the money is. Otherwise she could always jet over to Rizin, roid her brains out and fight Gabi Garcia.

There's just not enough talent to build a 145 division. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. And not too many ladies are gonna move up if they don't have to, for obvious reasons. I'd rather Ronda crank on my arm for a second than have Cyborg ruin my face for a couple minutes.

reply

That's two different subjects rolled into one though. Cyborg isn't refraining from weight-lifting, so her muscles have no chance to atrophy. Subject 2 is the way she cuts weight, which is dehytrating as much as possible. Naturally, if she continues her weight-lifting regimen while trying to make 140 by massive dehydration, she's going to risk her health.

For example, Conor has the frame and muscle mass of a 155er. Cole Miller also has the frame of a 155er, but he's able to make a healthy and safe cut because he has less muscle on his limbs than most 145ers do. Cyborg is in a different category than either of them. Her frame is pretty much identical to Holly Holm's and Leslie Smith's. Cyborg is tailor-made for 135, but the one thing that prevents her from making that weight is her workout regimen. There's just no getting around that fact.

Now, sure, you can make the point that it's not easy to lose muscle weight, especially when you have to train to stay in shape to defend your theoretical title. But after so many years of doing the same thing, at the end of the day it's really just an excuse for Cyborg to take the safe road and remain "undefeated."

How in the hell did Conor McGregor sneak his pasty ass into this conversation?! You did that on purpose!

Oh Please, You do it all the time, You let your hatred for Conor get the best you and bring him and HIS FANS up all the time in conversations that have nothing to do with Them...

In fact you just did it here, lol dont you find it odd, you were the ONLY one to get angry and then result to name calling just because someone brought Conor up...

lol again this isn't normal...No one else even cared, It didn't bother any one, You literally got so angry at someone even mentioning Conor, that you then had to call the person out and resort to "Name Calling" With Conor to make yourself feel better...

lol You need to get a handle on this dude, Its truly creepy.

I mean stop and think what you just did, A poster simply used Conor as an example because given the subject, Conor actually was A very good example, It made perfect sense...It didn't bother anyone else, no one else read the Posters message and felt he went off topic with Conor, everyone completely understood the comparison the poster was making between Cyborg Cut and Conors recent Cuts...Yet You Instead immediately got angry with just the mentioning of Conors name, angry enough that you then had to call the poster out and then you literally couldn't help yourself and had to throw in an Insult at Conor...

lol your hatred for Conor once again kept you from thinking clearly, Instead of understanding the comparison the Poster was making between Conor and Cyborg, You instead got so angry you didn't even understand why The Poster brought up conor, lol You literally said

"How in the hell did Conor McGregor sneak his pasty ass into this conversation?"

lol I'm sorry but this ^ is an idiotic question, If you honestly have to ask why The poster brought up Conor ...then your simply clueless...

again Your the only one that seems not to understand why the poster brought up Conor...everybody immediately understood Conor was a good example, A simlar example, Both Cyborg and Conor cut close to the same amount of weight, bringing up Conor cutting from 170 to 145 is similar to Cyborg cutting from 170 to 135...lol The Poster just brought Conor up because it fit in With the Conversation he was having, unfortunately you couldnt understand it, Your hatred for Conor immediately made you want to insult the poster and Conor instead of simply understanding what everyone else understood

I truly think Nunes is going to be the hardest fight of Rousey's career. Currently, I'm on the fence with this one, however, once I see some training videos and some staredowns, I'll iron out my pick.

reply

I don't think Ronda has the spirit anymore, probably just needs to finish out her contract. Maybe she has something to promote too.

reply

I think Ronda's heart isn't there, anymore. As Nunes recently predicted: I think Ronda's done after she gets knocked out in the first. Her mental stability is key.

I could be wrong, but Nunes is scary. That striking is dangerous. Maybe even more dangerous than Holly Holm's. 

If Ronda wins though there will be rondamania again.

reply

I personally do not think Ronda Rousey should be given the first title shot against Amanda Nunes belt. Rhonda has not fought in the UFC since she lost the dam thing.....she's done nothing in the ufc for well over a year. And now she gets an automatic title shot on her return?. No....she should be made to have 1 or 2 non title fights first before she gets another title shot.

But you know why this is happening dont you?, because having Nunes vs Rousey as a main event at the next ppv, is gonna draw in more ticket and ppv buys than what Nunes vs Pena or Nunes vs Zingano would.

reply

It's because she was the most dominant champ in that division beforehand. It's kinda like how Anderson got an instant title shot after he lost it.

If you can read this then you are trying too hard.

reply

Should Nunes work the fight? Throw is to hard of a word but should she let Ronda win to save the division? Maybe ease the stomachs of these new investers. You gotta find it a lttle comical how long time employees are periodically and quietly leaving. Kinda "rats leaving a sinking ship" - ish

lol OMG your not already setting the seeds for An Excuse for if Ronda wins are you?

lol Ronda hasn't fought for a while, so you haven't had to hate on her lately tito...but when she was fighting, Just like with Conor you hated her and constantly came up with excuses for her wins...

are you now already doing it again?

are you already worried Ronda is going to win, so your now already planting the seeds for your next excuse?

are you really going to immediately claim "Nope, not impressed, Nunes definitely threw the fight to save the division" if Ronda wins

lol Tito your depths have no limits...

PS I still haven't seen your excuse for why Conor beating Eddie isn't impressive? what is it, what have you came up with to Discredit Conor's win? I know its hard Considering You claimed "Eddie would kill Conor in 5 minutes" and that you claimed "Conor knows He's going to lose to Eddie and knows he has no chance but is only taking the fight for a pay day"..I mean when you say things like that, when You clearly suggest A fighter has ZERO chance against another fighter, Its then very hard to then come up with a reason/excuse why "Its Not Impressive that The fighter with Zero chance Obliterated The fighter you claimed would win in 5 minutes"

lol but again due to your unnatural hatred for Conor, I have no doubt You've done it, I have no doubt you've already come up with A Sad and desperate excuse for why "Its not impressive"

lol did you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel, are you pulling A Rousey, are you convincing yourself that Maybe Eddie "Threw the fight"...are you desperately trying to convince yourself Conor is cheating and is taking Steroids and just hasn't been caught yet?

whats the excuse Tito...what have you thought of so you dont have to give Conor credit for Beating Eddie?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siA6_s8k4RU

reply

Not sure about that. People are saying Ronda is on her way out whether she wins or loses. The division would honestly be better off if Amanda beats her as one-sided as possible because the way forward is to create a new Ronda, and Amanda is likely to be around for awhile longer.

If you can read this then you are trying too hard.

You ever think you saw a fix in the UFC? Just curious, and I'm being completely serious. I've seen a couple in Pride, but nothing in the UFC ever looked weird, but that said, I only catch maybe one a month for the last several years. Plus, unlike Conor-haters, I don't have to convince myself McGregor didn't really beat half his opponents...

You gotta find it a lttle comical how long time employees are periodically and quietly leaving. Kinda "rats leaving a sinking ship" - ish

Who are you talking about?

That Hamil/Thiago Thiagofight looked kinda suspect. When Thiago had the guy out matched but was visibly letting him off the hook. Not in the UFC but under Zuffa at the time I suspected Swanson/Pulver. Pulver was over the hill qnd needed a win to stay relevant and got the easy sub win over a Cub that was making waves in the FW division. Another one I watch closely is Rampage/Forrest. That fight always looked funny to me. Then Rampages admittance he threw the Sakuraba fight and his strange behavior after the fight was a red flag for me personally. Other than that though i have no concrete evidence I admit but I think that as fans we should stay open to the posibility especialy now a days when they really try to build fights.

I agree, I think we should stay open to the possibility. And not only do I think I saw that Rampage fight, I think that's one of the fights I was thinking of. I'll have to rewatch it to make sure though. Regardless, I've seen several fixes in the UFC, but either by bad judging (which seems to be getting more common these days) or bad ref calls (usually early stoppages). Never saw a UFC fighter with a suspect performance though. (Yet.)

Anywho, after seeing Ronda at the weigh-ins, I'm predicting she breaks Nunes. Originally I thought this would be a super-tough fight for Ronda, but I could see it being over in less than half a minute. Nunes is no Holly and Holly is a bad match up for Ronda. Or was, I wouldn't doubt if Ronda could easily beat Holly now (though not via boxing, presumably, as I don't think that gap could be closed in only one year...)

You are pretty easily impressed if you think replying with an infantile emoticon is "cold"... And seriously, you post here regularly, so why the F are you egging these band-wagon Ronda-haters on? He has *NO CLUE* about MMA, as everyone already knows (but you, apparently)...

Everyone already knows? LMFAO! Like who? 

How about you learn what an EARLY STOPPAGE is before suggesting you know *beep* about MMA? 

reply

I just saw the new trailer for the fight on facebook and I'm going to make a prediction based on that trailer:

Rousey is going to get her ass kicked.

In her fight against Holms she lost because she tried in to keep it standing and show of her striking in the first round and was too injured after that round to do much of anything anymore. Rousey was an absolutely dominant ground fighter who tried to establish herself as the "most complete fighter in the world".

And since then I have said over and over again that if she comes back she should focus on what she is actually good at. Take it to the ground, do an armbar. It is boring but it will work. And get a new trainer because your current coach is giving you bad advice...the trailer shows her mostly doing strike training with her old coach....

I know, it is just a trailer but if this is what Rousey wants to show about herself, if this is how she sees herself and her strengths...put a fork into her, she is done.

reply

Well.....it is just a trailer. You ever watched a movie based on the trailer and some of the stuff in the trailer wasent in the movie? Or the trailer made the movie look a certain way but found out it went in a totally different direction when yo watched the movie? Good example that Morgan movie that came out earlier this year I believe. Made it look like she had some sort of mind powers and it didn't. That's what I got to say about judging by the trailers.

"Hi, excuse me. Can you use your karate to open up this pickle jar?"

reply

Yeah, but sometimes the trailer shows the whole movie. They could spar a bit, Ronda throws her down a couple times and lets her up, then Ronda starts running for no reason, and then they just stare at each other until its over. 

If you can read this then you are trying too hard.

Spoiler: Nunes retains.

reply

I kinda called it. 

Just look up the video of Ronda shadow boxing, she couldn't even beat an amateur boxer. What she said was her boxing coach told her she could box but she literally has no fundamentals. Her camp essentially told her she has a stand-up game and when she doesn't, they set her up for failure knowing they're getting paid. She needs to fire her whole team.

Congrats to Nunes. I see her dominating for a long time.

It seems that what has happend to Ronda is the same thing that has happend to Johnny Hendrix. Since loosing her gold, she has also lost her mojo. Amanda Nunes made Ronda look like a bum in that fight.

In Rhonda's fight against Holly Holm, i was willing to make the excuse for her "she made a poor choice in strategy" , she chased the puncher. But there is no excuse for her in her loss against Nunes.....she was simply outclassed.

Look at Johhny Hendrix since he lost his gold....fights on prelim cards now, looses to people he shouldent do, and knocks no one out with his punches anymore.
