Trump, Stewart Face Off in War of Words 14 minutes ago

NEW YORK - The bleat goes on in the rekindled Donald Trump- Martha Stewart battle. The domestic diva took aim in an article in the current Newsweek; The Donald blasted back in a letter to Martha delivered Tuesday, and late Tuesday a stunned Stewart returned fire.

In his biting letter, Trump wrote that Stewart's version of "The Apprentice" was "a mistake for everybody — especially NBC."

The real-estate mogul was responding to Stewart's sniping to Newsweek that "Martha Stewart: The Apprentice" floundered last fall — canceled after one cycle — because Trump would not take his competing show off the schedule.

Her show was supposed to be the only "Apprentice" and was meant to start out with her firing Trump on the air, she told Newsweek, reiterating comments she'd made before.

"Having two `Apprentices' was as unfair to him as it was unfair to me," she told Newsweek. "But Donald really wanted to stay on."

Trump's blunt response asks Stewart to take responsibility for her "failed show."

"Your performance was terrible in that the show lacked mood, temperament and just about everything a show needs for success," he wrote. "I knew it would fail as soon as I first saw it — and your low ratings bore me out."

Ouch.

"Between your daughter, with her one-word statements, your letter writing and, most importantly, your totally unconvincing demeanor, it never had a chance — much as your daytime show is not exactly setting records," he wrote.

Then he really told her what he thought.

"Essentially, you made this firing up just as you made up your sell order of ImClone," said Trump, who claimed NBC did not intend to fire him on Stewart's show.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, Stewart, who lost an appeal last month that ended her criminal case for lying about a stock sale that sent her to jail for five months and nearly six months of house arrest, said she was bewildered by Trump's comments and tone.

"The letter is so mean-spirited and reckless that I almost can't believe my longtime friend Donald Trump wrote it," she stated.

"I am very proud of the work we did with Mark Burnett Productions and Mr. Trump, who was an executive producer, on `The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.' Many young entrepreneurs learned so much from the show and enjoyed it. Many families sat their children down weekly to watch it. We are even more pleased with our excellent daytime show Martha — syndicated by NBC Universal — which has just been nominated for six daytime Emmys (including best show and best host), was touted by The New York Times as one of the best shows on television, and has been embraced by our wonderful audience throughout the country."

I love it! Trump says exactly why Stewart's show was horrible (as what a lot of us on this messageboard have agreed) - the inane "one-word" statements from her daughter, letter-writing and unconvincing demeanor.. spot on!

And the "Imclone" reference... ouch! *snapalicious*!!

Bring on the next round!

Just curious....if you agree with Trump so much why did you tune in to the show? Hypocrital aren't you? Now that the show is over and receiving a bum rap (from Trump, that wonderful role model for all cheating husbands and pretend billionaires, of all people) you seem to be jumping on the bandwagon. Yet, I do remember a 'Aussie Stud' who posted in this very forum every Wednesday night after the show was over last fall. Hmmmmmmmm.....

The fact is this. Donald's ego won't let anyone star in HIS Apprentice and Martha's Apprentice, whether by choice or because of her in house arrest, let her cast star in hers. And Trump's ratings only beat Martha's by 4 million viewers and look what he did to Randal in the finale JUST to gain viewership for next season. Yeah, what a winner. Give me Martha Stewart and her shows ANYDAY over Putz Trump. This is just one more way for Trump to get ratings for his show, which interestingly will be back on in a couple weeks. And this time is it at Martha Stewart's expense.

And if you bothered reading my other posts, you would see that just like everyone else here, I tried to give this show a chance. We all hoped it would get better or deliver some sort of satisfying finale. How exactly is that "hypocritical"? Not once did I ever post saying "Oh I love this show!" and then turn around on it when it suited me.

Unlike people such as yourself, I suppose if it doesn't suit your taste, you're more likely to tune out than give it another go eh?

And we're hardly "jumping on the bandwagon" - we made similar, if not the same complaints as Trump made from the very beginning! There are threads on Martha's letters, Kristin's existence on the show and the inexcusable lack of personality selected for the show. If anything, Trump's jumping on OUR bandwagon.

I couldn't care less about Trump's show. I concur with everything he said about why Martha's show tanked, her refusal to accept responsibility, or in the least, acknowledge that her show was a borefest.

You should stick with Martha's daytime show as it seems to be what you live for. I will watch Trump's "APPRENTICE" when it returns in a few weeks, not because of what he said about Martha, but because at least his show is entertaining to watch. I'm actually quite surprised that you even watched the last season of Trump's "APPRENTICE" seeing as you despise him so much. If anyone's being hypocritical now, it's you.

Some random thoughts:

And if you bothered reading my other posts

I read them every Wednesday night. You practically flooded the boards so it was kind of hard to miss them. Strange for someone who hated the show so much and thought it was a such a bore to post as much as you did. And the bulk of your posts were not about how terrible the show was but about the individual episode.

Unlike people such as yourself, I suppose if it doesn't suit your taste, you're more likely to tune out than give it another go eh?

Well, like 99.9% of the country, when I dislike a show....I QUIT WATCHING!

And we're hardly "jumping on the bandwagon"

Who is we?

acknowledge that her show was a borefest.

Again, WHY WATCH IT THEN? It doesn't make sense.

You should stick with Martha's daytime show as it seems to be what you live for.

You don't know anything about me or what I live for. I just a nameless post on a message board so save your lame attempts at insults for someone who cares. They are far from clever and rather dull, actually.

I'm actually quite surprised that you even watched the last season of Trump's "APPRENTICE" seeing as you despise him so much.

Hmmmm....actually I did watch last season's Apprentice with Trump and made posts about my dislike for his huge ego (in addition to his huge stomach) and the fact that the average time of his going into the boardroom was 9:32 pm. So.....I quit watching until the finale. And only then did I watch it for Randal.

If anyone's being hypocritical now, it's you.

Try again dear.

Some more "random" thoughts:

LMAO, gee, let's add up all the "individual episodes" and what do we have... A SHOW! So if I commented on every "individual episode" from the beginning to the end, wouldn't that equate into talking about how "terrible" the "show" was overall? My God, I would never have come to this conclusion! I hope that little explanation cleared that one up for you.

Well, like 99.9% of the country, when I dislike a show....I QUIT WATCHING!

Yes, but most people are willing to give it a chance. I gave Martha Stewart's show a chance, not just one or two episodes, but the ENTIRE show. Hell, I thought the finale would offer something interesting. Nope. However, I am very interested in how you came up with the "99.9%" statistic as it sounds very authentic. What studies are you basing this result on? I am very interested in finding out seeing as you seem to be speaking for the people like the dictator that you are!

Again, WHY WATCH IT THEN? It doesn't make sense.

See above response.

Who is we?

The same "99.9%" that apparently proves your theory correct? Unless of course, you don't have proof, and therefore your entire posts would make a whole lot more sense.

You don't know anything about me or what I live for. I just a nameless post on a message board so save your lame attempts at insults for someone who cares. They are far from clever and rather dull, actually.

Well that must mean that you know EVERYTHING about me then! And I share the same latter sentiment about your posts too. Completely uninteresting, but worthy of a reply just to clear up your utter confusion.

Well, I gave you my response for watching Martha Stewart's version. Unfortunately, mine is legitimate and you, like Martha Stewart, are unwilling to admit the truth. You watched the ENTIRE season of Trump's version but for some reason, are now trying to find some excuse to claim that you "stopped watching" somewhere near the finale simply to support your current disdain for Trump's comments towards Martha? LOL! Too funny.

Try again dear.

I did, I just proved how much of a shameless hypocrite you are, "dear". It wasn't that hard either.

That's the best you can do? Yada yada yada. I see the post you made but it's like an empty canvas. You also don't read well because I said I quit watching Trump's when they went into the boardroom at 9:32 one night. Your post doesn't match the argument. You basically wrote a whole lot of nothing. And rather then continue in a boring game of 'I know you are but what am I' I will be the mature adult (since you obviously don't know how to be one) and retire from this thread.

It wasn't that hard either

I wouldn't brag about that.

Bye!

LMAO, here you go with the "I'M RIGHT, YOU'RE WRONG!!!! NYEH NYEH NYEH!!!" crap again. Always have to have the last word don't you? Even if it's completely vaccuous.

Bye bye! Let's see if you can truly stay away this time!

I watched all of Martha’s version… not just when it aired the first time on NBC, but when the episodes aired again on CNBC the next night.

Why? Because it was a beautiful train-wreck of the show. It was the perfect example of why business fail and others succeed. And I also loved to see how outrageous Jim could be and wanted to see which episode would be the one where he would get fired.

Donald’s right… and it’s almost as if he read my posts here on this table and paraphrased them. The letters HAD to go. She needed to return to be The Queen Of Mean, and show people what they tuned in for.

Martha is right about only ONE thing… they shouldn’t have had those shows back to back (Wednesday/Thursday)… they should have aired one… then the other.
