The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist

reply

I saw it live! :D It was total genius.

reply

How did it come to melbourne in April, when they have already peformed it there at the Comedy Festival? Im assuming you mean Ballarat?

OH yeah I got to see it live!!! 6 TIMES!!!! 3 times in Brisbane, and 3 in Sydney. I wanted to see them In Ballarat too...but didnt.... And I was NEARLY on the thing, I was sitting to the left of the girl shown after Frank says I dont think any of you were thinking I was talking about a female penis.

Before I met them, I liked Frank better cause Col was such a bully, but after i saw them in Sydney and Brisbane, i love to bits and bits Col. The facial expressions do it! Plus hes been on tv a bit more so yeah got to see more of him.....

I saw it in Melbourne last year or something. I remember that they "accidentally" burned the newspaper and said that it was supposed to be used for a joke later on. The island was as funny as anything.

Yes it was released onto dvd when they did the island in sydney. Though you cant get a copy of that version now, cause they are releasing a newer version, with more stuff on it this year sometime. It had better be before they do their final show at the Adelaide Fringe!

I think its only be released after their shows and from their management's website www.token.com.au

I love the island....I love the anemone joke.

I found when i discovered them, that i found frank funnier, but when i saw the islnd i fell head over heels in love with col lmao.

hehe today is exactly a year since i was in sydney. in fact right now i just arrived in sydney (a yr ago). I was sooo hyperactive before the show! I remember in that joke that col says sydney is crime capital of australia, i reacted too early and he heard me and told me to shut up (SPECIAL)

Actually one girl nearly did wet herself at one of the Sydney shows. I wasnt there-i found that out from a lw forum. It was before col was going to do his song, and the girl was like ok i have to go to the loo before she wet herself from laughing so hard. http://community.livejournal.com/lanoandwoodley/5194.html#cutid1

Just got this on DVD.

I loved it, ( i knew i would)
The best part for me was the fire extinquiser bit. Also when they are talking about the peanuts and a packet gets thrown on stage but goes under the island thingy.

Frank is my fav, just love the way he annoys the *beep* outta Col.

If you havn't seen this, you should, It's great

reply

Yea I watched it for the first time last night!

One question for those of you who have seen it live...
Was the suitcase supposed to catch on fire?
Its so hard to tell because it seemed like the fire extinguisher was supposed to be part of the show.
It is so hard to tell which bits were in the 'script' and which were completely improvised.
Quick thinkers.

(PS. I love Frank)

reply

Yeah i dont know if that was part of the show either! Some of these things are so hard to tell, eh? I'm leaning towards believing it was part of the show now- but at the start i was sure it was an accident.
My favourite part is when Frank is playing on his phone and Col comes up and he's like:
"G'day mister, watcha doin?"
"You're playing tetrissss are ya?"
"That's fantassssstic"
"You little cutie little cutie" LMAO The voice is just so weird!

okaybyecyalater!

reply

Yea I loved that too. My favourite one liner was Franks'
"I'm going over here for ages!"
I don't know why, but I found that hilarious!
The chicken is genious too.

reply

Yeah! My friend and I cack at that one all the time! They used the chicken again in 'goodbye' -with the 'I thought you might fall and land on your..' joke lol

okaybyecyalater!

reply

I've never seen any of their other full-length performances. Now, I'm shooting myself because they've retired/split up. Have any of their other performancece been released?

Subject change:

I think it's great how Frank actually made/bought most of the props himself! How funny.

reply

Only this one has, hasn't it? Goodbye's out this month i heard..

Im more surprised thet Frank was game enough to lick the chicken after it was sprayed with the extinguisher! Even if it is completely safe, its still a bit suss..!

okaybyecyalater!

reply

Cool! I can't wait to see it!

It didn't surprise me after hearing he was fine putting a condom in his mouth! How inventive.

Have you seen 'Goodbye?' How does it rate?

reply

Well i loved it but I suppose you cant compare a live show to seeing it on dvd- because of the whole atmosphere and the whole audience interaction thing (plus we met them aswell- just had to add that!!)
But it was heaps awesome!! I'll be getting it when it comes out for sure!!
They used the judge thing again, and theres this really funny voice-over bit and miming, but I don't wanna give anything away so i'll leave it to you to watch- the Sanity mag says it was out 26th June but I havn't checked yet

By the way, the condom thing- funny as hell in the commentary

okaybyecyalater!

reply

You MET THEM?!! How cool, I'm so jealous! What were they like?

'The Island' was out around the 26th June, I have that one But haven't seen 'Goodbye' out yet. I'm so excited!

I hope they do another commentary for 'Goodbye.' They are awesome at doing that. I watched the Umbilical Brothers' dvd with commentary the other night, but they weren't nearly as good at it!!

It must be a gift.

reply

Are the Umbilical Bro's the ones that did Speedmouse? And they had all those funny ways of flipping the bird? And the roadie was a scary clown? Cos i've seen that- it was ok but nowhere near L&W.

They were just pretty normal, friendly people- but I reckon Franks nicer. I was with friends and we were so excited we nearly wet our pants! Okay not literally. They signed our shirts so we'll always have the memories...

Well in the mag it says Lano & Woodley 'Goodbye' 26th June

Its embarrasing to tell people i listen to dvd commentaries- it sounds so sad, hey?

okaybyecyalater!

reply

Nah, I love commentary. I listen to it on all dvds that have it as an option. If you're interested, check out the Finding Nemo commentary - its really good!

Yea the Umbilical Brothers did Speedmouse. I really enjoyed it, but you are right, they don't compare to Lano and Woodley!

I'll keep an eye out for 'Goodbye' and their CD - I really want to hear that one too!

reply

Aww the CD's heaps funny!! (Got it the night before we saw them!) It's got Col's 'Head over Heels' song and heaps of little in between bits. Another good one is 'I Saw Macca'
Yeh I'll check Nemo out
ps: aww, I hate when I get food in my sand!
okaybyecyalater!

reply

Thats it. I'm getting the CD. No more waiting for the price to drop, I've herd too many good things about it, I need it now!!

ps: 'You can't, you can't!'
'Don't call me that.'
'....... James.'

Priceless reaction Frank. Well done.

pps: I love the chicken. I love it!

reply

I got my Sing Songs CD signed! I feel special.
I love Bouncy Rabbit. They sang it in Good Bye.
If anyone is interested, there are some videos of Good Bye on youtube you can look at them if you search for Lano & Woodley. They were put there by Leslie150 and Ananas72 if that does anything. Enjoy!

"Take that into your back face!" - Col, Lano and Woodley

reply

Aww! well I got my shirt signed(!) but I haven't worn it out yet (Its too big!). Yeah those vids brought back some memories *wipes away a tear* but I'll wait til Goodbyes out on DVD.

okaybyecyalater!

reply

Woo awesome show aye?!?!! Yeah ive got it on DVD now and i love it. But you can't really compare it to the actual show you went to coz of the improvised jokes on the night. But still awesome! Umm yeah i met them too =D They are soooo nice and awesome. Frank was like 'thank you so much for being a fan and talked bout random stuff lol' And Col was like ' hi hello there whats your name? there you go madam' haha they were soooo sweet!!!
So jealous of my bro he's met Frank like properly and has had a good convo with him and has had a photo with him while my bro is wearing Franks hat!!!! :0 i wanted to hit him so bad..i was so jealous lol. Anyways you gotta love them s2

reply

I met them too, after the last Good Bye show in Melbourne - dude, they were the nicest, funniest, most humble guys... not to mention absolutely gorgeous! They had both showered after the show, and Col's hair was all scruffy and yummy, and Frank was wearing the hottest jeans... *sigh* They were both so modest - it was like they didn't think that they were THAT liked. Col kissed me because I flew down from Canberra to see them!

There is absolutely no way I could choose between them... It's like, Frank seems to be a lot of people's favourite, and understandably so (he's a BABE), but I think a lot of what Col does is really underrated.

A great example of this is in the episode The Girlfriend of The Adventures of Lano and Woodley, where Frank tells Col he's a virgin. When Col does his awesome "Oh dear" walk (which is a great example in itself), Col tries to relieve the tension in the room so he hits the bench and says, "S'a good bit o' timber." The way he does it... I can't describe it, but there's something unbelieavbly realistic about the way he tries to cover the awkwardness.

Anyway, that was an enormous rant, but you know what I mean? There's some stuff Col does that is unsurpassed is cleverness and humour, but I think there aren't many people who understand or appreciate it. rozymisty said it: it's all in the facial expressions.
