OK thoughts....

Who thinks that the fire in the suitcase was supposed to happen? cus i think it was, i also think that any *supposed* mistakes weren't mistakes. What do you guys think?

Colin: Well i'm wearing a thong too, but two thongs dont make a right!

reply

I reckon the fire was ment to happen, cos there is no way that the whole fire hydrant bit was made up on the spot!!

In one of the interviews on the dvd, Frank said that messing up the Judge controls (so his mouth didn't move while he was talking) was a mistake he really made one night, and that they thought it was so funny that they kept it as part of the show.

I reckon all the audience interaction was probably the only stuff that was improvised, the rest was just very well written!!

reply

Yeah thats what i was thinking, i was also thinking though that they made some verbal mistakes actually more than usually, so i dunno about those bits, oh but what about that bit with James? cause that was really funny maybe they ask for little kids to sit in the front so they can make that joke?

Colin: im wearing a thong too, but two thongs dont make a right!!!

reply

I dunno about that one. I choose to believe that it was improvised!!

PS. Where did your 'thong' quote come from... I've never heard that one!!

reply

It comes from whose line is it anyway? its an improv show its fantastic! u no i wanna be like Lano and Woodley one day! sounds stupid i no!

AHH! I know the one!!!

I love that show and I mixed up the colin from that with Col Lane.

I thought it was a Lano and Woodley quote!

I think the part with James was improvised - there would have been warnings about the language, themes etc before the show, so the parents of James obviously had no problem about him hearing the swearing.

I also think a lot of the physical "mistakes" are carefully planned, but Lano and Woodley deliver it so well that it makes you wonder. It seems most of the improvisation is actually in the dialogue, because Col and Frank make each other laugh all the time with lines or comebacks that it seems they weren't expecting.

reply

thats true i think i heard somewhere that the fire was real but the thing with james was i think maybe they try to have at least one kid down the front so they can do that routine or something similar to it

Talk about a late reply but...I went to the Island show. And they didn't do the thing with the kid at all, but they did ask someone in the front questions which was heaps funnier than James.

I also saw the goodbye tour one...Sadly I didn't find it AS funny, but it seems they cut out alot on the DVDs...

I just saw the Fank Woodley solo act tonight...And what can I say?...They shouldn't have broken up. Together they were able to feed of eacother and it was good when they went out of character because they were their best moments...You could tell that the audience LOVED when he did the classic Lano and Woodley moments...Also, his improvisation was HILARIOUS!!!!

reply

Talk about an even later reply! Haha.
I got the Island on dvd and i was really like umm wtf is this fire bit a mistake or what cos they delivered it so well. But my brother went to the show and i asked him and he said it was meant to be there.

I went to the Goodbye tour and i thought it was freakin hilarious. I loved how they put heaps of of their clips from their show and the Island in to it and even song from their cd. I absolutely lost it when the chicken came out cos i hadn't seen the Island yet. I got the Goodbye tour dvd and i found the tennis bit they did with Melissa histarically funny. It was so good.

I also went to Woodley's solo act. It was in march on my birthday. I thought it was really good, better than what i expected because i was really scared what he'd be like without the Lano in Lano and Woodley. But he did well. Of course i still wish they never broke up. It's not the same. But there were definately the Lano and Woodley moments in his show that made me laugh even more.
