I Know this Board is Kind of Dead, But...

Just a thought/question: do you think Judge Alex gets less attention relative to either TV judges (I.e. Judy, Marilyn Milian, Joe Brown) because he's not as abrasive with people or theatrical? When I first saw Judge Alex, I was impressed because he wasn't screaming at people like a lunatic. (Of course, neither does Marilyn Milian but then she doesn't get as much attention as Judy.) And while Alex can be very funny, he doesn't have Joe's unique personality and way of expressing himself. (Even though Joe Brown is a tad too conservative for my personal tastes, I still acknowledge that he has character and charisma on screen.) While I was impressed by Alex's composure, professionalism, and overall reasonable, balanced behavior and rulings, it does occur to me that the lack of theatrics or intensity on the show might account for why he doesn't get the same response as, say, Judge Judy. It just doesn't make the same kind of television. Of course, larger than life Judy has had much more time to gain a following, but still, Judge Alex has less of the inane drama and virtually no major outbursts from the judge that I can recall, although I haven't watched in a bit and need to catch up.

As for Judge Judy, I've spent more time watching that show than I care to admit but it doesn't really attract me anymore. It's kind of a ridiculous show. The drama aspect is totally over the top and it seems like it's more about sensationalism and people screaming at each other than anything else. Judy doesn't even come across as a nice person sometimes. People can be angry and ticked off with someone and still be basically a nice person underneath it but it's hard to even see that with the way Judy is portrayed sometimes.

'Irregardless' is not a word

He is very low key compared to the other judges. He is a class act who can be taken seriously. Unlike the other TV judges he often goes on news networks and does legal commentary on high profile cases. He would not have much credibility as a serious legal analyst if his courtroom style was abrasive and over the top like his TV courtroom peers.

Agree re his manner - but I SO MUCH prefer his droll, dry humor to Judge Judy's hammed-up vitriol and contempt for everyone, and Joe Brown's "protection of womanhood." Mainly, though, he's majorly hot. He does get worked up sometimes and rip people some new ones but in a controlled, erudite way.
