well probably not 50$. but "saw" is one of my fav. movies of all time so i'm very eager to see any wan/whannell project, thats out there.

Hi,

I'm Shannon Young, co-director of the film 'Stygian' which I made on a very low budget with James Wan (of SAW) in Melbourne a number of years ago. Leigh Whannell (writer and star of Saw) has also been a long time mate of ours and appeared in Stygian in a small role. Obviously with the success of Saw, a lot of people have been seeking out my first collaboration with James but at this stage we are reluctant to release it. If you weren't amongst the lucky few who caught it at some festivals years ago, you're not likely to see it unfortunately.

However, a few shots from the film will be available with the DVD extras package of my new feature 'RAZOR EATERS' (which is a multi-award winning film that has played at a lot of festivals - if you liked Saw, you're bound to dig Razor Eaters), along with a cool deleted scene featuring Leigh.

That might be your only chance of seeing some images from Stygian...

Cheers,
-Shannon.

reply

Why? Is it that bad?

And when's the Razor Eaters DVD coming out?

reply

Well that really sucks!! Any chance of coming out with a box set to include SAW, RAZOR EATERS, and STYGIAN, and possibly SAW II when it becomes available?

Or if you have a copy at your home, I will get the popcorn and soda and we can make a night of it. Whatcha think?

Pouting and waiting,

Matt

reply

I guess it's kind of like Quentin Tarantino's first movie, My Best Friend's Birthday. The movie was so bad he didn't want to show anyone.

reply

well that's rather idiotic of you, Shannon.

reply

thanks for the info shannon, what was it like workin with leigh and james

reply

You should upload stygian on "you tube".

http://www.youtube.com/results?search=loren+avedon&search_type=search_videos

many other films are uploaded there: eg. tarantino's "Your best friend's birthday".

and the original short "within the woods" which sam riami and bruce campell used to get the funding for the evil dead. so as a fellow melbourne-ian (im from chirnside park) - please upload the movie on 'you tube' so the fans can have a look at it.

sincerely,

Tom.

I asked James Wan if there was any way I could see Stygian or Razor Eaters and this was his response:

"Razor eaters is a friend's film that i helped out with. stygian was a student film from awhile ago. it shouldn't be seen by anyone :)"

Sincerely,
~Tiff~

Yeah but , it could surely be put on YouTube. That wouldn't cost anybody anything. Evrybody who's interested knows it's a student film and as such would accept poor acting/shots/effects. It would just be interesting to see it.

reply

Razor Eaters appears to be available on P2P networks. Helps if you speak Italian. Have no idea of the legalities . . . .

reply

"stygian was a student film from awhile ago. it shouldn't be seen by anyone :)"

And yet he thought the putrid Dead Silence was worth our hard earned dollars.

I'm a fan, but that makes no sense at all.

reply

That seems a tad odd, talking about due to the success of Saw, we are unlikely to see 'Stygian'. Surely that would give more of an incentive to release it?

Also, what happened with that whole 'Den' lawsuit thing? That seemed ridiculous, 'Den'was terrible and had little to no resemblence. If you could shien some light on the matter (if you have any inside information) that would be awsome.

Seen it and -trust me- you're missing nothing.

It's truly dreadful and -worst of all= very very boring.

reply

I concur. I worked on it and... let's just say it's not in my CV.

Shannon,

Three years after you posted this lame sales pitch for that piece of crap you call RAZOR EATERS, I posted a review of said film. My first line was:

"Some 'director' must have been sitting around one day and suddenly had the incredibly bright, novel idea to make a movie about a bunch of immature teenagers running around laughing like low IQ morons at their own juvenile antics while engaging in a "crime spree." Ooh.. tense."

Now I know who that "director" was.

If your collab with Wan was half as lame as RAZOR EATERS, I can certainly sympathize with your refusal to let it see the light of day.
